Default any sky installers in?

Hi all,
I have got sky+ HD and just moved out of my house into my mother in laws house.

i cant end my sky contract till november so i thought i would just take the lot to the mother in laws.

sky said i could do this and to just call with the new address and phone number. The person on the phone said rather than pay 60 quid for an engineer to come and do it,as my mother in law used to have sky, just plug in my hd box to the old lead and away you go.

However,I have done this tonight,But my hd box had two leads from the dish plugged into it.
dish input 1 and dish input 2 (the leads with the nut attached that screws onto the sky box)

My mother in laws house has only got 1 lead coming from the dish so,
if i have it plugged into dish input 2 i get the picture and programmes all fine but the tv guide doesnt work i.e) no tv listings.

if i then unplug the lead from dish input 2 and plug it into dish input 1 it says searching for listings and then i get tv guide but no picture (says no sattellite signal)

My mother in law used to have the original sky so has the installation changed since switching to sky+ ?

what do i do?
if i can avoid paying sky 60 quid for an engineer to come out that would be great.......

LNB is a standard fitments (sometimes a plastic collar is used), DO NOT MOVE THE DISH! even the slightest movement will lose signal, the alignment is accurate to within a millimetre or so, trying to realign without a meter is difficult even for someone who is used to the accuracy. so be v gentle when changing the LNB.

Not trying to hjack ur thread mate, im having sky + HD installed Tuesday we live in a flat with a ariel port in front room with 3 connectons on fm dab, tv and sat, the lady said everything will work as normal bar u can't do too things and once for example can't record one channel and watch others as it would need a too wire set up, would the eBay link sort this out? Is the technician likely to have these on board?

There is a way where you can run sky HD on only a single feed, you do however loose the ability to record 2 different channels at the same time.

As long as you have got a Dual LNB (minimum) and 2 cables going to your sky HD box, it will work as normal.

No it wont.

They're only providing you a single feed from the communial dish

SKY+ & SKY HD require 2 feeds from the dish, one for viewing and one for recording basically.

You can run a SKY HD or + box on one LNB feed with no issues, the only restriction on this is that you can only record the program you are watching.

If you need to run on a single feed, plug it into LNB input 1 on the HD box and follow the instructions as below:-

Select "Settings", go to the "Picture" option and then press 0 then 1 then select.

This will take you to the engineers set up menu and the bottom option is Single Feed Mode, change this to "ON" and save this setting, back out of the menus and all will be well with the world.

Regards

Hi,
I have just been thinking, can't I just take the lnb and leads from the house I am moving out of?
I had to pay the installation fee when I moved in.and it makes no difference to me if the new tenant has sky or not.they can pay the installation fee as I had to.
What do u think?

that's If it's still the old EPG if it's the new one , you'll need to press services 0,0,1 then switch to single feed

True, but not if you go to the "picture" option first like I said
