Default Is anyone up to date with regards to breaks in a working day?

We're shift workers who have to do 13 hour shifts and 14 hours at night, although the 14 hour night shifts, should consist of sleeping.

I'm not sure where to find out how many, if any time that we should be entitled to for rest periods.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Many thanks

I always work to the 10 mins every 4 hours rule, a half hour paid break in 12 hours of continuous work (not counting 4 hr breaks), and a minimum of 11 hours away from the workplace between shifts unless the job dictates otherwise.

So, in 12 hours you'd get 10 mins after 4, 1/2 hour at 6 and 10 mins at 8.

Oh, but then there's Display Screen Equipment Regulations which force a min 5 mins away from VDU's per hour, although you may still work, just not at the screen.

I can't grumble, last time I did fifteen hours I got 2 hours 24 minutes of "break" time...

I'm a council shirker, not a well paid worker....

LOL
