Whos working from home because of the snow?
Decided to bring an office phone home from work in case the weather was bad and to save the journey in the morning and evening.
The phone is a snom VOIP so it just plugs in to my router and i am connected to the work phone system
All should be ok? Nope!
Jesus christ! my wife does not seem to understand the work from home thing,
So far I have had this morning:
can you hoover for me?
can you hold the baby?
can you change the baby?
can you make me tea?
can you go shopping for me?
Now shes in a mood upstairs because i'm "lazy" because I have told her to stop driving me mad
How do people work from home all the time, its a nightmare!

I find that I have to be very disciplined when home working and just treat it like a normal work day, i.e. get up a dressed, brekkie, brew, and logged on by 8:30. I shut myself in the home office away from as many distractions as possible.
Usually I can be quite productive at home, sometimes more so than being at work as there is less general distraction.
That said I only work at home when the missus is at work. Came home early on Tuesday due to the snow with the intention of doing an afternoons work at home only to find the missus had been sent home due to the weather. Didn't get a lot done
I think if I were in your situation I'd just have to shut the door and tell her not to disturb me

I do about 14 days a month from home, the rest in the office.
With my mrs at home with the little ones Monday and Friday we had to lay out some ground rules that work for us:
- My office door stays shut when we are all in.
- Minimal interruptions, especially when I'm on the phone.
- If either of us are making tea then we will check to see if the other wants a cup.
- I'll do my best to make myself available to help out at meal times but I can't always be there.
It may sound a little draconian but it works for us

I know exactly what you are going through. Had the same things years ago when I converted part of the house to a study/home office. Idea was to work from home 1 day a week (preferably a friday or monday ). Office was separated from the house by two glass doors that led into the kitchen.
All day long all I got was little faces pressed against the glass going
" Daaaaaaaaad, come and play with us "
" Daaaaaaaaad, he just hit me !!! "
etc, etc
Then the ex-wife would come in and announce that she was going shopping and I would think ' brilliant, take the ankle biters and I can have some peace'
But oh no, what she meant was for me to look after them whilst she swanned off for some retail bloody therapy
Nowadays I sometimes do a day at home but the kids and other half still think you are either a play thing or useful for chores. I tend to clear off to the office for a break
