SSU,

My wife is a teacher. On Wednesday she tried to get into work about 20 miles away, mostly on untreated country roads. After leaving at 7:30, she got into several slides on the icy/snowy roads, got stuck 3 times and had to be rescued by a family when she could go no further on a particularly bad section. She eventually got back home at 11:30 after giving up. I fully support her decision not to risk her life in continuing the journey, as did everyone else who came to her aid, so I don't appreciate your sweeping generalisations on this subject.

Cheers
