The Indestructibles
You know the ones, white-van-man, Range Rover/X5 tw@t, $hitroen Saxo boy et al, who all think compacted frozen snow in the process of turning to sheet ice has as much grip as dry tarmac. My car was breaking traction at 20mph in 3rd at 1k revs with the slightest blip of gas, and the ABS was kicking in with a vengence with even a tiny press of the brake, yet there are people passing my house at (est.) 40+ (30mph limit ). On my way home the dash said -4.5º, and I was testing the grip when safe to do so with blips of gas, prods of brake or shimmies of steering, and it was plain to me that there was little to no grip at anything over 20, yet The Indestructibles carry on regardless. No doubt we'll all have to pay higher car insurance premiums next year to counter their inevitable claims

When we first had a cold snap down here and there was ice (but no snow) all over the little country road I usually take to work, I had three of them *******s tailgate me, beep and then overtake me when the road was wide enough... This is a little back road that is so small you have to stop to let a car pass the other way and I was doing about 35mph, which was as fast as it IMO was safe to drive (and if anything, if I wasn't being tailgated I would have gone even slower).
Predictably, the next morning I came across a recovery truck pulling a van out of the ditch.
You'd think they'd learn.

The worst i've seen in this current snow were the mums at my sons primary school yesterday. Christ almighty they were driving around as if it were summer and this is on a really steep hill only wide enough for one vehicle and the road had frozen over! Absolute **** wits the lot of them. They were getting a good run up from the bottom of the hill and coming up at over 40mph with cars coming down towards them plus the ones following must have been a foot from each others bumpers

The problem is image, alot of people think 4wd means weather/terrain doesn't apply to them. It's like when you read about people discussing whether a Scooby is any good in the snow? 4 wheels spinning on ice is the same as fwd or rwd, if ya tyres are designed to grip on tarmac then tarmac it must be. Unfortunately there will always be the "I must learn this the hard way brigade" .Doesn't matter what speed you do on the roads there will always be some *** trying to come past.(i never moan though).
Keep safe guys.

Some proper tools about today, the worst for me was an artic driver who obviously thought 50mph in near blizzard conditions wasn't fast enough, he was chopping left and right, not indicating, sat up peoples ***** etc.
So I got my passenger to call the number on the back of his lorry and reported him for being a *****.
