Default Anybody here experianced with Fibreglassing?

Any ideas on what I can use for a gelcoat to cover a former in?

I'm going to redesign the floor pan space in the boot which is sectioned in polystyrene. Plan is to make a former from the poly then use the resulting block to make a fibreglass liner.

What I want to prevent is the fibreglass sticking to the former.

When we used to do it, you made your master, which became the former,

This was highly polished with mould release wax, (meguairs we used), then

Gelcoat was applied allowed to cure, then the fibreglass, once cured, a

few wedges between the the former/mould and the layup (gel/resin). this

would release and give you the finished part. (or your new mould/ deending

on what you want.)

If you were making masters for moulds, we used a product called furane (sp) which is for making moulds

Cant remember now but I dont think normal car wax can be fully trusted to release it, as Mart said you need mould release wax.
