The g/f was in the market for a new telly recently and after much research and viewing she settled on the Samsung 32" 6000 series LED - just over £600 from Richer sounds. It's a great set and I'm well impressed with it. Handles SD well, good colour palette with excellent blacks and good contrast levels.

You do realise that the SL 9000 is an LCD tv that is just backlit with LED's ?
Its not a true LED tv.Nonetheless picture quality is much improved.
Have a read here...Quite interesting..

Compared to the 3 1/2 yo Digimate LCD we got at the mo it will be like Liquid Gold Display
Not really looked at 'true led' tv's, wanted a large screen so cost was limiting, comes with 5 years on site warrenty so will see us into the next gen and see how the prices go then

You'll love the telly but its a whacking 'early-adopter' premium for an LCD that has (low cost) LED's as the backlight instead. It also has the inherent characteristics of LCD versus plasma but that can of worms is long settled in my little black book !

Yes Les i think from what i read full LED sets will be available in the not so distant future and in 5 years+ time they will be widely available and affordable Plasma still apperently suffer from screen burn but their are people out there that still prefer them, never having owned a plasma i can't really compere

I have had 2 Plasma TV's over the years.A Philips and now a Panny Viera. I also have a cheap 32" Full HD LCD in the bedroom, and too be honest the Panny plasma knocks spots off it,even though its only "HD ready"..
Having looked at the picture on the backlit LCD's,i think that they are a decent enough jump in quality to buy new.. I love the picture on them, but like Diesel says,it is at a premium at the moment. That said,Bats LG at £1050 inc 5 yrs waranty is a good deal and not to be sniffed at..
I maybe in the market myself for something around 42"..Then sell my trusty viera..

As i said above, after trawlling the net for info none of them seem to be 'totally' problem free, the AV forums get very '****' and techy End of the day it's down to personal choice, i got 5 years on site warrenty with mine, so i've essentially got a nice screen for the next 5 years no probs

I have had 2 plasmas, the one I have now is 1080p and I am very happy with the picture quality. My present one is a Panasonic and the quality both standard and HD is very good. The colours are very natural too.

Yeah see your point Les, we have been umming and arring for ages and just decided to bite the bullet, to tell the truth i don't think our present 32" budget box will last much longer, it has some non descript shadowy lines appearing and the bug the **** out of me
Have a quick look here, but you have been warned

It will be interesting to see how they are then, but with the present price as quoted above I think I will wait for a bit
