It depends...
I had a simple set of Sony IR headphones, semi-open back, and they were
fine, you just had to take into account of the limitations of IR. Bass & Treble
response were good, with a fairly deep bass level....
You can get similar in Comet for around the £30-£40 mark.
I also tried Sennhieser Fm headphones, these were closed type cans, but
had a lot of noise bleed form the back of the can, ( It meant the mrs could hear what i was hearing
albeit at a reduced level, but enough to annoy!!) as it had an open mesh
type back. I took them back in the end, and stuck wth the IR set.
Moving onto the the other end of the spectrum, i also have a set of
Sennhieser FM headphones which i use for lisening on my ipod, Superb
Bass & treble response, but let down by the fact that due to having a
bizzare battery size, you dont get very long between charges ( that said, i
have a new battery on the way, so i'll see if it improves)
Another thing to take into account, is that you will need room for the
transmitter/ unit & a spare 240V supply
