Not if you're looking at a Sony or Panasonic tho... those are 2 of the top brands, and the prices reflect that. You should be able to get a 1080p 32" Sony or Panasonic for that cash. I'd check Comet's prices.

Yeah freesat is free channels if you've got a dish installed already, so freeview is the one you'll be wanting - and to be honest you won't find a TV without this now I dont think.

If I was getting a 32" for up to £500 I'd be looking at something like this;

Buy SONY KDL32S5600U | 32" lcd 1080p tv - Television | Comet

Do your home work and if you can hold out you can get a 32" SONY or PANASONIC for £300.

Yep I'm familier with that site You'd be hard pushed to get a 1080p 32" Sony/Panny for much under £450 tho to be honest.

I just got an LG 32LH3000 to replace my old Tosh CRT 36.

I have another LG (42" plasma) in the bedroom and have been quite happy with it.

I saw it in Currys for £329.99 which seemed like good VFM as the TV I went to get (Sharp?) was £299.99 but only 720p.

I dont have 1080 input, but you never know!!! And for the £30 I thought it was worth getting something with 1080.

Anyway, so far, so good.

HTH!

If you are looking for a 32" and sit 2- 4 metres from TV no point in paying a premium for 1080, 720 will be fine.

This Tv Buy LG 42PQ6000 Plasma HD Ready Digital Television, 42 Inch online at JohnLewis.com was £499 before christmas, very good TV and I think its highly rated by avforums with 5 year warranty. Its gone up now but john lewis change there prices daily....

32" will probably be only £100 less

Whilst in John Lewis TV section yesterday, i was listening in to the sales guy as he was advising a customer. He advised the chap to stay away from Sony and LG, and recommended the Samsung (which was cheaper than the Sony) or one of the Toshiba.

It is very difficult choosing a tv as you will hear good and bad about all of them but from personal experience, ive had a 32" Samsung since last march and fingers crossed, its been great. Only thing that annoys me with it, is its quite slow changing channels!

I have a Samsung 42" that I also got from John lewis same time as the LG and i very much doubt it will last 5 years, just something about the quality. Thats why when either packs up in 4 years 6 months time i will get a new one for free which will last me the same again

I paid £549 for my 42" Panasonic PX80B (1080i) Plasma back in February. I run my Xbox and Sky+ HD on it as does my friend but on a PZ80B (1080p). I honestly can't tell the difference at 3-4m away. I also watched Harry Potter in Blue Ray on my mums 37" Panasonic PZ80B (1080p) on Christmas day. I would say that my Xbox upscales dvd's to the same quality if not better than Blue Ray, which I found grainy in comparison.

I haven't regretted getting only 1080i yet as I haven't seen anything that beats the picture quality in all round use, including normal sky feed.

For the money mate, I would recommend the current equivalent:

This 42" Plasma
Panasonic VIERA TXP42X10 | 42 inch Plasma TV HD Ready Freeview | Richer Sounds

or this 37" Plasma with a 5 year warrenty.

Buy Panasonic Viera TX-P37X10B Plasma HD Ready Digital Television, 37 Inch online at JohnLewis.com

I spent ages researching which tv to get and the Panasonic Viera plasma always seemed to come out on top. Don't just concentrate on 1080p, as even sky hd doesn't broadcast in this, only 1080i.

Hope this helps.
