Apparently...
...their pre payment meter unit prices are the same as quarterly bills unit prices, and direct debit customers only get a 5% discount for being on the direct debit plan itself.
Thats what Southern Electric have just told me as I rang to see what they could do for me with regards finally getting off the pre payment meters.
They couldn't blatantly lie over the phone when the conversations are recorded surely? Either way I've decided to go onto monthly d/d for which I had to have a credit assessment done over the phone (a legal requirement for customers coming off pre payment meters now gentleman said). Not fussed as I passed and I'm booked in for Friday afternoon Jan 8th.
Hopefully by then I'll have some news on getting any ££ or a grant towards making my ******* house warm for a change
Random thread over.

As my home doesn't seem to be efficient in the slightest, I can only afford the heating to be on on a morning for 2 hours and the evening 4 hours. If I left it on during the day, it would probably cost me £20-30 a week in gas
So wear a t-shirt, jumper and fleece with a wooly hat indoors, and a halogen heater helps too. **** knows whats up with it, but I can't get my house warm

I am not joking here and the readings were by one of their minions but our recent gas bill for Sept to Dec was £102 (plus VAT)
For a 3 bed semi with no loft insulation (I took out all the glass fibre stuff as my railway is up there but will be replaced with insulated boards)
I am a complete tight b*stard when it comes to the thermostat!
I always assumed meters were more expensive but I don't see why - I think they may have to make them equal under some euro-fairness cobblers.

The amount I spend on gas, they'll go bust unless they keep me sweet.
