Its a pity, end of an era and all that but it does feel like the market place for the WRX has gone.
Does this mean they will stop the 330? I would have thought they would keep that and as above, replace the WRX with the diesel one.

A tdi has no place in a wrx. Yeah I know they have **** loads of torque and good mpg blah blah blah, but the feel of it would be all wrong, diesels just aren't very exciting engines. They're great for slogging up and down motorways but that isn't really the point of wrx is it.

I was told about this a couple of months ago by my dealer.
Just read the article attached and a twin turbo Diesel sounds interesting, just needs to be 330's spec with a 200plus bhp oil burner engine and a boot

Don't really understand why most people are so down on the hatchback, I really love mine and have had some really positive comments about it. Don't see why an impreza must be a saloon either. I hope subaru ditch the diesel idea, although having said that it would win them more customers I suspect. Just hope they keep on making the really quick petrols.

Edit: IMHO they would make a great GT car with a few choice mods

At idle, like any other derv, once driven, there is a burble, but needs a new exhaust to release it.
Other than that, its like any other WRX, the 1 downside is they are electronically limited on boost in 1st and 2nd, assuming to save the gear box, but thats easily sorted with the remap.

I don't see the point of a WRX. It is just a soft STI that offers no real benefits over the STI besides softer springs.
Most people buy a WRX to gradually upgrade it to STI performance levels. This is not good business for Subaru who want to sell their own performance models as opposed to having people make their own on a cheaper based car.

If it is true, we only have ourselves to blame.
Two years ago, we all complained when Subaru suggested that the new shape was not going to include a WRX.
So Subaru brought out out........and we never bought it.
Anyway, some of us WRX drivers took the plunge and went to the STI, as Subaru wanted us to.
Faster, smoother, better fuel consumption, cheaper to insure.
So buy an STI and ensure we can still get them.
