Default Specs 3 being rolled out into residental areas.

Say goodbye to our roads and liberty. We must never vote this government in again. EVER! Take the link and paste it everywhere online. Time to say NO if you ask me.

This has nothing to do with speeding anymore so dont want to hear it on my thread as i think our government has proved the cameras are not there for that.

If you enjoy your liberty do something about it. The climate control bunch are stepping up also and soon there will be a carbon tax on our cars. I am telling you now we are at a turning point. Take it and you will regret it in a few years i am absolutly certain of it.

Btw please do not quote me on here as it is impossible to remove if i ever want to delete things. thankyou.

Can't really tell if I see a problem with this to be honest. Traffic where I live is set at 20mph as my road has a school in it,but the roads are so filled up with cars it's hard to go over 20 in the first place. I wouldn't agree with them being put on a or b roads though. Purely as the amount of douche bags who would start driving at 40 in a 60 just to be double sure would cause huge delays.

And the problem with stopping people speeding in built-up areas is what, exactly?

If you can't drive a car and hold it at a set speed - then should you be on the road. There is no need to keep looking at the speedo.

It is impossible to hold a car at a set speed for a sustained amount of time without looking down. End of the day the whole speed thing is rubbish anyway. These draconian measures are slowly irradicating our liberties and if you cant see that then open your eyes. Its inching in bit by bit.

Wait for the fake carbon tax which just round the corner even though they have been caught out with the email leak. We will also be taxed for literally breathing out. Sounds like total recall to me.

niceone Dedrater!

I'm quite staggered at the people who claim that they cannot control a car so that they maintain a constant speed ...... I was able to execute that basic ability at age 16, with my Moped .... I didn't find it too difficult, really?

Maybe we should petition that maintaining a constant speed is part of the driving test?

It is a money making scam.

There is no need to have 20mph average speed camera in said areas.
Wireless too eh?
That makes them a bit liable to be "altered"

Not difficult to keep a constant speed on a moped when it tops out at 28 mph!

There's a simple way to do this, just fit speed limiters to all cars so they can't exceed predetermined limits on certain roads. Then while they're at it they could also fit little cameras with microphones in our houses to make sure we're all toeing the line......

Either that or they can just **** off out of it

It'll be choas when a whole load of people have been stopped behind a bus at a bus stop (where previously it was a bay but now it blocks the whole lane) and they all go speeding off to maintain the average. When accidents are more likely is at peak times, like school run etc where 20mph is lucky, if at all possible anyway. But 20mph average outside a school at 1am could be broken and no doubt enforced.

If these things are wireless then we can have 20mph time zones.

You are just jumping in with both feet there! That is an unfair criticism.

Dave is quite right, it is far more difficult to maintain 20 mph or less for a significant distance not only because of the normal distractions in a built up area, but because cars don't like being driven that slowly and naturally tend to increase speed above 20.

Fortunately it is more difficult to exceed an average speed over a distance unless you are deliberately speeding in which case you deserve to get caught.

The worse bit is the number of 20 mph limits now in places where it is just not necessary. That is a stupid move and encourages drivers to break the law.

As was said-I can imagine the time when we have to have two way monitors in our houses so that we can be forced to watch the praising of our great leaders and so that they can see what we are up to at home.

As you might imagine, we will have to buy them too, at an inflated price!

I remember the same arguments around the compulsory wearing of seat belts, and smoking on the tube and...

I wonder how many posters don't bother to buckle up

Just to make things clear. I have no objection to a 20 mph limit in places where it is genuinely needed, and there are a good many instances of that.

Its the "limit everything" mentality in places where it is not needed that I object to.

I work on a large Nuclear Installation .... the speed limit is 20 MPH.

The very same arguments and cries were heard across the site when it was implemented - what actually happened? Well, everything is calm, most drive at 20 MPH easily (to state it's difficult is just plain daft).

There is a penalty involved if you travel higher than 20 MPH - and that is that you are sacked ... it amazingly has bestowed upon those working there an ability to keep to an average of 20 MPH - bring it in, NOW!

Still ?

Agree with many of the above.

Anyone dropping someone off can then exceed the 20mph average.

The last bit between the final camera and your house/shop/other destination will not be subject to measurement. There you will be able to zoom past someone stuck at 20mph who is going on to pass the next camera. A recipe for loony overtaking and an increase in accidents.

I don't understand why there would be any issues at all ..... you enter a 20 Speed Restricted area, if you leave the area your speed within that area is calculated - 3 points and Fine if you were over, say, 25 MPH.

A single residential road could have a camera at the beginning and at the end, for example.

Anything which will clamp down on Residential speeding just has to be applauded.

Remember this simple fact - a speeding fine/tax is an OPTIONAL payment, you only have to pay it if you choose to - it's up to the individual.

Pete, why is a 20mph limit required in the early hours of the morning.

Why is it required today, when ten years ago 30mph was acceptable?

Why not have some 5mph zones? After all, if it is the law then if you transgress you can have no argument
