The problem with Silverstone, is that it's run badly by the BRDC.
They think Silverstone has a right to always hold an F1 event. Every time they promise to redevelop Silverstone, but never do. The last time they p!ssed Bernie off, was when they built themselves a new Clubhouse, then said they didn't have the funds to develop a new pit lane.
Will we see any change to Silverstone within the next 5 years? No.

I am very relieved to hear that news. From the driving point of view, it is a fine circuit for F1 as it always has been. As much as I used to like Donington, it would not be the best circuit for the British GP.
I don't think that Silverstone was badly run at all. Ecclestone says they run it well in fact. Maybe the facilities were older than the new circuits but nevertheless the teams were able to operate perfectly well. Maybe the hospitality suites were not what the cosseted visitors felt that they deserved, even as a freebie!
The BRDC are going to spend a lot as part of the deal so it is wrong to say we won't see any changes. Can't think they will agree the deal and then not do the updating after all.
It is true that the cost of going to a GP is prohibitive. I will still enjoy seeing it on the box.

Silverstone has a great circuit for racing but the rest of the place is a dump, touch wood that Ecclestone has made some clauses in the contract where they have to update the facilities.
If you did a pole out of all the tracks as to which was the most outdated with poor facilities where do you think Silverstone would rank ?

Wasn't the agreed figure £12m per race for the next 17 years? I'm sure Bernie will be happy with that.
In fact Bernie and Jean Todt will both be happy with the new arrangement.

Moto GP is at Silverstone I read on the BBC F1 website, in fact the track is being changed to make it more 'bike friendly', whatever that means. It also means the new layout will be used for F1 as long as it meet the FIA regs

I would be very sorry to see the end of Donington track. I have many happy memories of driving there and it was a testing circuit. Glad to see that Cadwell Park is going strong still, another wonderful driving track.
