What holds a double-glazed (plastic) ...
Window frame in place
Our lounge top edge has been bowing in and out by about 10mm in the 50knots squalls weve been having , last sat and possibly this week ..!. The other frame sides aint moving.

YEP, **** all!! except the strenghth of the silicone sealing the perimeter.
The plastic window federation do however recommend all windows over 1500 mm are fixed at the head to prevent deflection, in practise most window fitters cant be arsed to try drilling through a steel lintel.
Some windows are held in place with what is affectionately known as 'crazy foam' ...(expanding foam) and do not have any means of mechanical fixings at all!! scary!
Sorry for the negativity

Thanks
Intresting , this would account for the movement and bloody great draft lol
I presume even crazy foam cant move 10 mm.
Just as long as the whole window doesnt blow in ! , i guess we'll get it resaeled ( if even a dry day arrives )

if you have any sashes on the top then you should be able to get a fixing in there, if not then you need to remove the glass to fix it, re-sealing will prob just be a temp solution

You may have had them fitted by a cowboy, in which case you may not have anything holding the window in the frame at all .... Made sure when mine were done at the last house that I was around and made sure they were fixed in place! The wooden ones that were there before were NOT held in by anything.

This is such a common problem. Like someone above stated, fitters should use long bolts / screws to tie the frame into the wall, but usually just leave it to the expanding foam to hold the window in.
I had new windows put in a few years ago, and stayed watching what they did, ensuring bolts where used.
To fix, you will have to remove your beeding, security tape ?( if used ), then drill a few holes, and use some screws / bolts to fix the wind in.
