Non-scooby technical query
Wasn't sure if to post as 'non-scooby related' or 'technical'. Feel free to move if better elsewhere
My sons got an 02 Peugeot 206 Hdi and is having a problem with the rear lights. When the lights are off the brake lights, including the eye-level unit, all work ok. However, when the lights are on the eye-level unit stays on all the time - the other brake lights work as usual when the pedals depressed albeit they're dimmer. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Remove the light unit, or it's bulb-holders/connectors and take out each bulb in turn, check for corrosion on the metal parts of the bulb, it's connectors, and the bulb-holder, and clean it off with wet or dry, or emery cloth NOT wire wool or a wire brush, you are asking to leave bits behind which will cause a dead short
Do BOTH lights and ALL bulbs.
If the above doesn't solve it, find which wire is the earth return from each set of lights in turn and measure if it DOES go to earth with a multimeter.
My money's on corrosion though
