Went to a shout earlier today.

One of the complainents lives on a Derbyshire temporary travellers site.

Derbyshire county council have had the right idea of building this camp right on the Notts border. Therefore the Derby folk don' mind them staying there as the sute occupants who are committing crme are doing so in Notts.

The rules seem to be that if you want to move travellers on, then you must have set up a camp for them, this could be port-a-loos and a tap of runing water, but on the same county. It just makes sense that yo out it on the border of a county which has not taken the same measures...

Our council is trying to get a new site 'only for half a dozen' travellers in our quiet rural village - directly opposite the local councilors house!

We were all asked if we had any objections - but were told they could only be planning based and not aimed at the travellers - but the best quote of all.............. 'maybe the travellers don't want to be your neighbours either' !!!

Well why don't they f**k off then and live somewhere else!!

We have a coven of Pikeys moved into a house over the road....... the dad pees in the front garden...... the parents come home drunk ... argue and fight ...and get this when they shout at each other they open the front door so they wake everyone up..... they have other Pikeys vist and block our drive ways ....... basically we.de like to shoot em all oh and thier kids ride bikes all over our lawns, hit our cars and scratch them with the bikes etc...... SCUM is too good a word for them

I can't say that personally I have ever had a problem.... but I may get shot for saying this but I dated a man a few years back now and he was from a long line of gypsies. They were however a nice family, reasonably well adjusted, and he worked full time to support the whole family. However they were still tied to their roots in a big way.

I think I have the knack with them to be honest and it keeps me out of trouble with them, usually.

Back on topic, selling reclaimed land for a 6 figure sum certainly beats selling pegs.

I think that is defiantly an exception to the rule though. There used to be a street here full of them, I think that part of it has been knocked down and re built as some townhouses and flats.

Oh, and yep, she was a very clever lady, and a crafty bugger too!

We installed a shower block on a travellers camp a few years ago, a few weeks later we were back re installing the wiring and plumbing as it had disappeared and the shower block was being used to house animals.

To be fair though they were not real Gypsies just your average scumbag in a caravan.

Yes, I think there is a difference between 'real' Irish or Romany gypsies compared to the..... 'new age travelers' we see today.

Yes there is a difference. They hate each other and both sets are just as bad IMHO.

They all leave the ordered camps in a discusting state despite the fact bins etc are provided. They just leave it to the council to clear up and us to pay for. Scum.

Also, the land thing is a good dodge and become common with pikeys in the last few years. Get in there and get water etc put on and maybe a shower block. Then retrospectively apply for planning permission. Get it because we can't upset the minorities now can we? And then they sell it on for building as it now has building rights so it worth a lot more than the field they bought.

Tailed off a bit thanks to plunging property prices but it will be back i'm sure.

Or how about the one about an elderly gentleman who was conned into having work done on his house, they kept finding extra jobs and in the end took him to the cashpoint on many occasions to get 'payment' until his account, his life savings where gone. The old chap's grandson reported it to the police after visitng the old get to find him in a right stste physically and mentally. He was so ashamed at being tricked he did not want to say a word to his family.

Turns out the gang of pikeys are known (to the police) pikey gang who are clever enought to ensure they do not leave enough evidence to get lifted (just out of shot on the cameras, etc. Having has his life saving taken we then went downhill over the course of 6 months, first moving to a home as he did not feel confident to live on his own and embarrased at being conned and tricked and he died a short while afterwards a broken man.

I suppose it could be an urban myth or pub talk but then again it could have happened to someone i know, well the grandson actually.

Is that good enough?

As far as i am concerned generally Pikeys do not contribute to the betterment of society, often live outside the laws take and do not give back and are a blemish on society!

We are at cross purposes, I dont know any Gypsies that Tarmac, or infact work on anyone elses property, I will defend the Gypsies I know because they are worthy of the shout.

Who is being sensationalist?

Stated facts chap. My mate is environmental health, it is his job to go round and hand out bin bags etc to the ... travellers (that better for you?) on the official sites.

He gets on ok with them, he's a big chap but invariably they leave the place an absolute tip. Burning cables to get the plastic off etc and then it is left to the council to sort it all out again before the next lot arrive and claim the council are failing in their duty to maintain the site because they are racist etc.

EDIT: should add this is not just the official site which is quite small but all the illegal camps they have too. What's wrong with having a bit of respect for the neighbours, other people's property etc?
