Pseudo legal parking tickets ? AGAIN !
Hi guys,
this is a sad one, if someone else drives my car into a car park and a fine is levied....
Is it on the driver, or the vehicle, as surely and fine must apply to the driver responsible ? IMHO
Cheers,
dunx
P.S. There is video evidence of an "unknown" driver parking the vehicle, and later of myself driving off, I guess !

Yes, the driver. That's why these privately issued tickets can be ignored unless there is CCTV proving that the registered keeper was driving, and was parked for the full time claimed.
You are not obliged to dib the driver in.
<Pedant>What would happen if one person parked the car and someone different collected it?</pedant>

but even if they have CCTV of you the registered keeper parking the vehicle it can be thrown in the bin
it is an invoice -- thats all
think of it this way -- i see you walking across my lawn (I have a sign with T&C's saying that you will be charged for this -- and I have to prove you saw and agreed to these T&C's)
I run out and hand you an invoice -- would you pay?
would I sue you through the courts if you refused?

Duncan: they are NOT enforceable, trust me, just bin it, or do what I did and ring the firm of solicitors trying to enforce it, and play holy hell with them, call them a bunch of thieving barstewards etc. BEFORE binning it
There WILL be a signature on it, ask for that person. Give a fake name if asked

Just been through this myself because I (or maybe someone elese driving my car ) accidentally put the ticket upside down on the windscreen in a Euro Car Park and received an 'invoice' for £50 for my troubles.
Do not pay it!!!!!!!
Write back to them stating you are under no obligation to reveal the identitiy of the driver and you consider that an end to the matter.
You will then get 4 or 5 more and more sinister sounding leters over the next few months, but when you really read what they say they say nothing.
Then write back to them and say you considered the matter closed after the first exchange and you now consider their persistent letters to be harassment.
You will not get another peep on the matter. Voila!!!

as suggested just bin it.
you will find that the picture provided will not stand up in court as a court submissable photo has to have the target covering 3/4 of the photo. ie the car won't as the camera is too far away.
you will also find they have no proof to say that you did'nt leave and then go back again later.
the letters just to try to scare you into paying.
