AV forum is your best place, is it plasma you want or LCD ? They have a plasma section and an LCD section.

Freesat is a waste of money IMHO - I got Freesat, dumped Sky and ended up with about an hour a day of HD worth watching. Now I have Sky HD and there are always some HD programs worth watching.
I have a Viera 46in - I wish I had got the 50in - nevertheless it is EXCELLENT!

I've got the 50" X10 and its fapping superb, legaues above my old 42" LG and doesn't seem to suffer IR at all
I went for the X10 because the distance I sit from the screen 1080p would be wasted, wouldn't be able to see the detail tbh and I already have a 1080p projector. I picked it up for about £690 which I think is an utter bargain and almost half the price of the G10!

I have the 50 inch viera .
My only complaint is when watching football ,the ball can flicker as it goes through the air .Not a tv guru so not sure if this can be adjusted .Apart from that its a great tv .

which tv do you have? Some f the pannys have intelligent frame creation which tries to fill in an extra frame between the normal frames. It's meant to make the transitions smoother but general feeling is it creates a flicker so if you have IFC or whatever it's called turn it off. If you use SKY HD then best to set the box output to 1080i as well if your tv can take it as that's what it's broadcast in.

We have a 42PX70 and its been very good. Never had a problem with IR - a friend bought a 50" Sammy and you can see ghosts after a very very short space of time. Hopefully it will settle in time but I was shocked at how bad it was.
As a complete aside we have a 26" Bush in the bedroom (fnar fnar) and its rubbish. Not keen on the colours and misses the sides of films. However, we bought a cheap Alba 32" for our daughters bedroom and its actually really good. Good colour and good visuals.

This is the same TV without the anti-glare coating, and with only 2 HDMI connections. Same 5 year warranty: -
Buy Panasonic Viera TX-P50U10B Plasma HD Ready 1080p Digital Television, 50 Inch online at JohnLewis.com

I bought this recently and am very impressed:
PANASONIC TXP42G10B at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.
My paranoia needed me to get a 5 year warranty as well, so this was the cheapest place.
Fortunately my local store had one in stock (although it will be advertised for more instore, but will match the internet price, if you mention it) and we were in the people carrier (as it's a big old box!)
