Norway- best place to live
I heard that Norway tops a UN list for Best Places to Live.
Strange that they are one of the few countries not in the EC
UK was 21st IIRC

Well i guess theyre not heavily involved in blowing each other up and even for six monthe of the year i imagine its quite bareable ,
However for my money they can keep theyre pickled rollmops and expensive booze
the ones iv come across are more than pleased to spend time somewhere warmer

Norway is brilliant, i'd live there like a shot. the only downside would be the long nights in winter and the cold. with regards to booze yep its expensive. it was 7-8 quid for 0.4 litre of lager when i went but when the average wage is over £15 an hour plus not many people mind too much.
And some of the eye candy is simply sensational.

Dunc that's your worst for a while. C'mon. Please.
Norway is a beautiful country. It's expensive, as has been said. But add to that the Danes are the "happiest" people in the world and Scandinavia, away from overt commercialism and consumerism, must be doing quite a lot right...

Not spent that much time in Norway but it was nice enough, borderline tedious when they all go on holiday and the whole of Oslo was shut down for days.

It'll soon be like that here too with the Govs plan for minimum alcohol pricing and the end of happy hours etc under the guise of the publics health! They've seen how much cash can be raised on such things like cigarettes and fuel, so alcohol is the next big revenue generator in their eyes, I expect take aways and fast food to be the next target when they get beer to about £5 a pint with 60+% of that going to them in duty.

From what I have heard/seen about Scandinavian women I'm not surprised........
I remember at college we had 2 Norwegian sisters studying, like chalk and cheese they were but some of the best looking chalk or cheese you ever did see......all the English girls hated them but only cos they made the British girls look like munters (even the good looking ones.......)
I could put up with the higher beer prices, just go on an "Alcohol run" every so often
Better start learning Norwegian......................

Norway has totally free education (including Uni), billions and billions of North Sea oil money kept for a rainy day, and very impressive health care and welfare benefits.
It is also a very difficult country to emigrate to, so the only people who do manage to get in have a very positive influence.
Taxes are stupidly high, but, as mentioned before, their income is much higher to compensate.
Very few Norwegians emigrate permanently - most come back eventually.
Even though I only spent a long weekend in Oslo, it would certainly be somewhere I'd be happy to live.

I'm out there about every 6wks at the moment as we have some work in Bratvaag and Aalesund.
I stay at SAS Radisson in Aalesund, and echo the comments regaring the cost of food and drink.
Fortunately I get refund through company expenses...

I go every couple of years for work. Beautiful place, but how can you really enjoy it when it costs so much? 2 examples:
Hotel in small town in the middle of nowhere at the end of a Fjord (Flekkefjord): worst quality hotel I've ever stayed in anywhere in the world. Price for a tiny single room? GBP 115 per night.
Evening meal in family pizzeria in same small town. The bill for two fish soup starters, two pizzas, 4 beers (0.4 litre) and 1 ice-cream sundae? GBP 135 !!!
No wonder no-one takes their family on holiday to Norway for a fortnight's self-catering!

I have just had an experience working with Norwegian management and all I can say is they are a bunch of ***** and to even consider living in a country full of them would be a nightmare! The women are ok though.

Im half Norwegian :-) My mum / mum's family comes from Bergen. Lovely place, extremely expensive like previously mentioned. The health care is second to none, my aunty get tremendous free health checks and regulary screened for cancer etc etc.
One thing not mentioned is that the Norwegian have a nasty drink problem which is never mentioned. Most of my relatives are serious drinkers, knocking vodka like water, several are pi55 tanks and need it to live.
As for the girls :-) well the Norwegains have a more open minded way of thinking, and this is expressed physically :-)
As for looks, well my 8 month old son is a typical looking Viking, very blonde, blue eyes and when he recently went to Italy, had crowds of people stopping and say "Bella". All the woman wanted to touch him, hold him, and was a situation that was becoming quite uncomfortable / worrying.

Fascinating stuff
Sounds great if you are loaded or someone else is paying.....
I have to confess to never having been there but did spend some time in Copenhagen which I thought was a beautiful place. But it was all on expenses!!
But the girls - wow
dl
As an aside my boy has just returned from Dublin. He loved the place but bloody expensive. Beer £1.00 a can and a decent burger £8.00

Dublin as much as it pains me to say is just an expensive hole.
However its came a long way in the past 10 years
I've been to Norway only once through work - had to go meet a team of software developers to finalise specifications and ensure all on target etc
I enjoyed it, although it was bloody freezing when I was there
The women are mostly fantastic looking
I distinctly remember the office I was in and a particular blonde woman who wore skin tight top and these legging type bottoms.
I know she was toying with me, but almost every day she would find some excuse to bend over close to me to pick something up
**** me - it was all I could do to prevent "mini me" from rising to celebrate

Sorry - don't know why I put that. But I remember James saying beer was nearly £5 a pint ............ but he was playing gigs in upmarket pubs and clubs so I guess that isn't far off London prices. I pay £2.20 for a very nice pint in my local social club

I only spent 5 days there but i have to say they are imo the friendliest race of people i have met.
If your a single bloke - go over and you will get shagged to death by a blonde Norwegian
Now tell me it aint worth spending 7-8 quid a pint (well ok 0.4 litre)

Finnish as worse for the drink than Norweigans I'd say.
I once did a project with the Finnish prison authority, they came to Belfast for meeting.
Meeting commenced in boardroom at 9am and 1 particular bloke opened his briefcase and brought out his this bottle proclaiming "Your like yin" (Thats gin to you and I)
Yeah big man I like gin, but not at 9 o'clock in the morning.

I worked with an Austrialian guy that had a serious drink problem. On the way to work he would drink beer / spirits, and arrive constantly pissed, and this was on the trade floor. He used to disguse it in coke / lemonade bottles and would be in the pub lunch, afternoon, evening. Shame really, as he was a nice guy and a good SA. He would even drink warm lager, jesus !
Anyway, back on to Norwegians :-) Sexy woman, but there's something about a blonde german women ! I find them much more harder and plain speaking e.g whilst on a holiday a few years ago, I pulled a blonde German girl and she said "We fu*k, yes ?"
Something very horny about that up front honesty.
