Building a climbing wall for a 5 year old
My wee one is 5 in 4 weeks time. She loves climbing and i thought i would make her a climbing wall. She has been pestering me for months for one.
Anyone done anything similar, or know where to buy the hand lugs, or whatever they're called?!?
Any present suggestions for an active 5 year old girl also welcome.

tbh honest mate, i woudlnt if i were you.
my lad fell of a garden wall 5 weeks ago, hes got terrible scars on his legs as a result of climbing on a brick garden wall.
he slipped and a leg went each side of the wall, he cut the insides of both legs and has a very nasty cut which he burst the old fashioned stitches on again recently.
now hes left with a big scar the shape of a birds footprint,
im all for having them rough and tough, its the way of the world, he has just come back from a 3 night outward bounds school trip,
j4cko will vouch for how tough he is, but when you can see the shinbone and layer of fat inside is leg, and had to try and keep him off it and stop banging it,
its not worthwhile.

I'm only thinking something like this:
Only a little wider and higher and to include a rubber matting floor. With adjustable incline, leading to a fort style retreat. She would always be supervised.

Me thinks your daughter would get bored with that very easily. I'd start taking here to places where you can climb real rocks. But start small, walks in the country where there are a few rocks and trees. Then the Lakes ....
If she gets real good you can send her out cat burgling....
Dave
PS: in case you're wondering, I was serious about the 'getting bored' bit!

Have you any idea of the amount H&S documentation you need to get that cleared and approved for use ?
Do it, it looks a lot safer than a crusty old wall, IMHO

This may be a solution for you: Step 2 Skyward Summit
There are some other climbing frames too, but the one above probably best suits your needs. Activity Toys for Outdoor and Indoor Play - Ride On Cars & Pedal Tractors, Kidkraft Kitchens & More

For £500 i can build some climbing wall and fort.
I've checked out the holds and i can get about 60 for about £70. Think this is going to be the route. There's also fort plans online for a few quid.
Think building my own is going to be the best bet. Can customise.
