I very much regret that I have to bring the news that Pentti Airikkala has died

Very sad. I remember being showered with stones by him and many others whilst frozen to the spot in Dalby Forest as a boy

I did actually get to speak to the man himself once..... after breaking the car ! Sad news.

Did the Lancia performance course with him years and years ago. Never seen anyone drive a lardy old Thema Turbo round a tight gravel course faster than any of us could do it in an Integrale before or since.

Smashing bloke, funny as anything and utterly devoid of superstar rubbish.

A sad loss.

Sorry to hear that - he was a really nice unassuming man and a god in a car. Had the good fortune to meet him a few times. He wasn't well for a long time so it might be a bit of a release.

Hope he's left foot braking his way through the pearly gates as we speak
