unworkable in practice i reckon, especially with cars a few years old tbh

engines is the least of the DVLA worries

a common tactic recently is to buy a pre 71 mini wreck (or any car e.g beetle that spans 71) so essentially you are buying a number plate -- then putting it on your 1989 min whoolla

how do you prove that the car has not been restored

It might stop the idiots though.

Lad I knew a few years ago bought a 206GL (Or what ever it was) and said that he was going to mod it. Start by:-

Transplanting a 206 GTI Engine in it.
206 GTI suspension
206 GTI seats

and many more 206 GTI bits. Basically, he was wanting to build a GTI out of a GL. Me suggesting he just bought a GTI in the first place, went straight over his head.

What a good idea. Spend a fortune making a replica of a crap car.

Life is steadily growing into a grey replica of what it used to be!
