Cold calls wanting personal details etc. Argh!!!

Cold calls wanting personal details etc. Argh!!!
Must say I had a bit of a wobbly with Vodafone yesterday. They cold call me in the car with a 'courtesy' call 
. Maybe they had a great deal like teh recent free roaming etc so I agreed to chat. Then he asks me my postcode and date of birth - I unpolitely declined.
He never did seem to get my point as to why it was a bit ridiculous for him to ask for personal details that could be used by scammers and fraudsters and why I thought it very unwise of me to ever give my personal details to an unsolicited cold call.
You wonder about how clever these organisations are... I had Direct Line try the same the other week. MBNA does the same - bonkers!

Yup, same, i have had a few as has Jenny and, as if you are going to give your personal details to some cold calling you who do not know from Adam...

The scarey thing is how much information a lot of people are prepared to give out. Some just don't think of the possible consequences (or are a bit dim) and just give any info out without a thought about how it can be used.
I hate cold-callers at the best of times, but when they start asking for sensitive info it's on like donkey-kong!

The inlaws did that for a month or so. They cancelled it though when it became clear that it blocked pretty much every call from local hospital / dentist / garage - in fact almost ANY call that came through from any company operating a switchboard!
