Default City break anniversary Idea

I am planning on taking the other half away for a few days for our 2nd anniversary. I dont want to spent to much as it's going to be close to christmas.

My inital thoughts were the following.

Dublin
Madrid
Palma
Milan
Paris.

I am thinking about going somewhere for 2 days just to do a bit of sight seeing and to have a nice meal and that. We are both 25 if it helps.

Any thoughts on the above.

Thanks

I took my wife to Rome for a weekend on her 30th. It was in January which meant it was not too hot or too busy. Perfect time to go in my opinion. We both really enjoyed it as there is plenty to see all within walking distance of the main sightseeing areas.

It's got to be Paris - plenty to see and do for a couple of days - Galleries, parks, the Seinne, restaurants. . . and its all easily accessible - no having to travel miles and miles between each site. Take the Eurostar and you don't have to worry about drink/driving and trying to park the other love of your life. Don't hotel at the Eifell Tower end - its the only attraction that way - get yourself nearer the centre

Paris or Barcelona IMO. Edinburgh is really nice too. Don't like Dublin much, think it's overrated.

I like York, especially close to Christmas as they dress the old part of the town really well.

We went to Barcelona which was great - plenty to do and see and some lovely restaurants at the harbour.

Me and my mrs are off to Bruges in December for a long weekend. After looking around it seems to have a good reputation (better than Brussels) and everything is all in one place so can walk from your hotel. Eurostar is £59 each return although only St Pancras to Brussels station so have to sort another train out at each end.

Famous for beer, loads of restaurants, chocolate musuems, big chips, waffles (mmmm this is making me hungry now).

Went to Bruges earlier in the year - lovely architecture, beer and stuff and is a great place for a few days - everything within walking distance - we went in the car which I wouldn't recommend unless you got a hotel with parking which in the centre is rare. Great noise though running slowly through the little narrow cobbled streets Must confess that for a European city we didn't find it as cheap as we'd expected - food and beer seemed pricey compared to elsewhere though its only a couple of days and its your anniversary so push the boat out.

I would suggest Paris, (last minute.com has some good deals on hotels at the moment) or Tallinn, old town is beautiful but small some very nice places to eat and much cheaper than Paris with a more friendly and less hostile vibe to it.

How about a drive down to Cork. Visit Waterford on the way, Blarney Castle at Cork, the coast at Kinsale etc.

I was about to suggest this too!

I didn't like Dublin, too much attitude from the locals and if i'm honest I think Paris is grotty and over rated, sorry I really like York though and think a couple of days there would be spot on, assuming you've not already been that is.

If you're looking for a city break in Europe, have a look at Ryanair's flight prices.
I just booked a flight from Prestwick Scotland, to Milan in October for only 2p return. No taxes or other charges other than the £10 each for the booking fee.
Two weeks later, I'm off to Paris on the same 2p deal.
Before that though, in 12 days time, we're flying from Edinburgh to Malta for a week's holiday for only £42 each
I don't know how Ryanair can do fares at these prices. Its supposed to be one of the worlds most profitable airlines.
You have to search to get the right flight at minimum price though.
