Mastercare vs Toshiba
My 12 months warrenty is nearly up on my Toshiba LCD TV and i've received 2 letters 1 from Toshiba (£70 for 1 year) and Mastercare (£127 for 4 years) now obviously the Mastercare plan sounds the better but is it?
Has anyone used the Mastercare over the manufacturers extra warrenty?
I've seen this https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...come-good.html (beware they are 40 pages) and it seems that Currys try to wiggle out of their responsibility?
cheers Paul

Its all in the fine print mate, read closely.
Do you have to return it to store, or does an engineer come out.
Is it simple swap out, or repair on site, or take away leaving you with nothing.
How do the components covered lists compare?
And so on...
That said our dishwasher is on Mastercare.

Mastercare fine print is
24 hour service (but not sure how you can fix a TV over the phone?)
Unlimited repairs BUT they use fully guarenteed refurbished parts and in some cases i may have to pay for the repair then claim it back.
If they can't repair it or it takes longer than 6 weeks the replacement may be a refurb or vouchers to purchase a unit of the equivalent spec.
Product is replaced the cover agreement is ended.
Toshiba fine print is
Within the first 2 years if it is uneconomical to repair a new one of identical or equivalent spec may be issued.
Repair costs covered (call out, parts, labour and VAT)
Unlimited callouts
no bills as the they will sort it out with the repairer
Products over 2 years oldthey do a %age settlement scheme (1-2 years replacement,2-3 years 80% of original price)
Breakdown as result of accident is exluded.
Fine print seems fine for both of them but it's just the attitude when it does go wrong that worries me and your post/links Snazy do not inspire confidence in Mastercare

I would try these direct, they underwrite the panasonic warranties.
Warranty | Extended Warranties for Appliances, Heating, Boiler Electrical | Domestic & General

Only used mastercare one time for our previous tv that broke,we called an enginner he came couldn't repair it took it with him back to mastercare. Then we waited and waited and after about 7 weeks they contacted us and said it can't be repaired and they sent us a money voucher for a replacement. We had already bought a new one anyway after about the 3rd week, but still used the voucher to get another one .
