He thought he was going to get hit so he punched a bloke 3 times in self defense...why do footballers get off with so much?

He didnt, he hit the bloke once, two missed.... you can throw 3 punches in a second... you make it sound like it was a prolonged attack by Gerrard

But why did he feel the need to do it in the first place. Didn't one of his mates already punch the other bloke?

From the cctv it looks like he was guilty

Well a jury of 12 acquitted him after reviewing all the evidence, and hearing testimony.

So he's not guilty.

Can't see the point of the thread tbh. Do you want to rerun the trial on here, based the CCTV shown on the net?

He was one of 2 men seen punching the "alleged victim" and gets found not guilty. This after punching a bloke in the face 3 times just after he'd been elbowed in the face.
Self defence must have a different meaning if you're famous, no real surprise he got away with it though.....

Wonder if he punched the air in delight when he got home

He was charged with Affray wasn't he ?

I could be wrong but doesn't that mean fighting in a public place ?

He may not have been guilty of assault but he looks like he was fighting in public - and all his mates (who were involved in the same incident) pleady guilty - so were they involved in a different fight ?

Money talks

He still hit him, which Is assault, never expected him to be jailed though. Typical arogant footballer.

Even the judge summoned it up by saying "What at first sight to the casual observer may seem to have been a clear-cut case against you of unlawful violence, has been nowhere near as clear-cut upon careful analysis of the evidence."
