Default Injecting yourself in public

I was dwelling on this while traveling on a train recently with plenty of time for obscure thought.

Could you be prosecuted for injecting yourself in public akin to a heroin user with the belt and the slapping of the arm e.t.c, but just injecting water. Doing all of this in public view such as a shopping mall.

Discuss.

Possibly under Section 4 Public Order Act, if you were doing it intentionally to cause harrassment, alarm or distress

If breast feeding a baby in public makes 'some' people feel uncomfortable and all that crap, i

would think this would really **** em off!

Don't think he means shooting up heroin, but injecting water, in the same way a heroin user would inject themselves.

Still can't think why someone would want to do this. Maybe just a bored, strange thought.

I thought re-hydration warnings in the current heatwave meant drink more fluids.

Not shoot them up & water down the Dragon.

I think its bound to cause some kind of reaction from people and once dibble turn up then I think you will be taken in on the basis, dibble will assume drug paraphenalia. If it then turns out to be water then I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being an evaluation by a doctor for your mental health

Its a bit like standing on the opposite side and a bit further up the road to dibble who has a speed camera and posing with your own hairdryer. It might not be a very criminal act as I don't recall displaying a hairdryer in a public place as being a criminal act but you are likely to get told to "Shift!! or go in".

Its the normal situation........comply or get tugged

The choice of which type of rubber glove they use can be yours..........

What Adidas said. It all comes down to your intentions when performing the stunt, I think. Like brandishing a replica firearm in a bank, or wanking with a rubber ***** outside a school - you ought to get done because you are intending to distress and outrage the public by your actions.

Agreed Bubba, maybe it does depend on the reason for doing it. So, unless it was (or any other stunts) done as some sort of study, I'd imagine there would be consequences.

Tbh, if something like this was done 'out of interests' sake', and the police were to become involved, I'd not only expect them to be done for causing distress or outrage, but wasting police time.

I'd still imagine this was one of those obscure thoughts that just hit him while bored though, and not necessarily a serious consideration. I could be wrong though.

As it happens i inject myself in public for two reasons. One i have diabetes which you all know means the insulin shots for those like myself that need them, but i also have something else which means every couple of months i have to administer a series of injections to myself 3 times a day. To be honest i've done them everywhere, i made up the drugs and did them in the grandstand at the GP a couple of years ago and yes they are syringes/ needles etal, i imagine its fairly obvious from the kit that its medical stuff, as i'm using fresh equipment everytime, don't look like a junkie etc.

Nobody has ever said anything to me about it and i've done it for years, i'm sure people have noticed (hard not to really)

I'm informed by the wife that this would be a section 5, btw.

My Son [diabetic] was once asked IF he had to do his injection there [ we were sitting in a Harvester enjoying Sunday Lunch ] he was subtly using a pen style syringe in his belly

He responded soooo quickly no I can leave it if YOU want but perhaps you can call the ambulance now

The other diner didn't say another word

i think what he means is, is the act of giving yourself an injection in public against the law?'

the answer is no, only the substance your are injecting can be a criminal offence.

my girlfriends brother regularly injects himself in public, even seen him do it in front of police in a coffee shop and they didn't even bat an eyelid. His injector is for his diabete's so doesn't look like your run of the mill surringe (sp) though, that might get more attention.

Since the sight of a needle, even going into someone else, can be very distressing to many people, surely the decent thing is to ensure that you find somewhere private to do it.

If you want to do it purely because of the effect on other people, then I think you need your head examined!

I went bowling once with the wifeys work mates, and one of the lads, who admittedly looked like a right junkie goth imo (you know the type, piercings and a matrix coat) nipped off the to bogs, i did not know he needed insulin, but soon found out as the security staff barged on in and dragged him out as somebody reported him.

I remember them having a go at him and him starting to get arsey with them

"you should not be doing that in the toilets"

"i need my insulin, are you telling me i cant take it? would you rather i did it out here in front of you? or should i just go and die in the corner out of your way?

Personally i think he did the right thing in doing it away from the general public, and because the security were in a good mood they let him stay in the building, to be honest its one of them things where you can see both sides of the story, he was not to bothered about it, i can only assume it has happened before.

One of the lads who i went to school with was diabetic and used to shoot up outside the classroom during breaktimes lol

I suppose the only thing is to tell the heavy mob what you need to do and why before you do it.
