Buying a Car in Ireland and Getting it to England ?
I live in Yorkshire, and am possibly buying an autograss car in Ireland. What would be the best was of transporting it over ?
The seller says he would be able to drop the car off at the docks in southern Ireland, would I be able to collect at the docks in England ?
Would it be ok left unattended on the boat ?
What is it likely to cost me ?
Thanks

Dublin to Hollyhead....I take it that it will be on a trailer.
Just take your car over, spend the night, have a beer, in the morning hook up the trailer and take it on the ferry and home.

Dont think this will work mate - they are unlikely to let you board the ferry to take off a car. Doubt it will work the other way either, drive car on and passenger gets back of the boat.
If the seller is known to you or trustworthy enough, i'd travel out as a foot passenger, meet him in Dublin, square him up for the motor, take it back on the ferry and drive it home.

A friend and I did this for another friends Maserati-picked it up for him at Stranraer and drove it to Glasgow for him-however it was road legal so could be driven on/driven off. Your autograss car would need to be on a trailer i'm guessing? I'm not sure if the ferry company could provide shunting facilities or not for you-best to ask them. Or buy a sh1tter with a towbar and tow it across that way...
realistically thoughi thnk you'll have to get a one way car and trailer ticket and a one way car only ticket.

I'm off to Belfast/Donegal this weekend, back a week later. Have towbar and could drop off a trailered car on the way back if you would like. It would cost about £40 for the trailer 1 way. Happy to meet someone within reasonable range of Belfast.
If you have a trailer, then I could take it over/back as well so about £80, maybe a bit less.
