A weekend of toy buying...
New surfboard (6ft bat tail quad for the surfers here):
And ordered a new road bike - 2010 Specialized Allez Elite - being built today.
Surf on the way and looking forward to using the road bike! Got a tri coming up with a road section. Mrs Matt is doing it too so she's using the Allez (we fit the same size bike almost exactly), I'm riding my MTB on slicks (it's pretty light at 23ish lbs). If all goes well, we'll get another road bike.
Not ridden one for about 20 years - flippin eck they are fast! But suddenly potholes are to be avoid rather than bunny hopped over!
New TV in the next few weeks (probably Panasonic 32") then better abstain until Christmas.
Toys are good mm'kay?!

Dpb - you a windsurfer then?
Board was needed (my other two are ancient and I surf a lot) and the road bike is just a bit of fun. It's very much an entry level bike.

Yep windsurfer . 
In 2007 i bought an actual new goya £ 850
, as my 'big' board to replace my 'drops' which id repaired by fibreglassing about 60% of the rails
They get a hard time cos we always end up on rocks if we run out of wind
unless i move ill never by a new board again lol

dpb - my dad was an avid windsurfer. A big reason why we moved from Surrey to Daymer Bay in 1989! He got pretty good. I learned the basics (up to waterstarting and gybing) but never really got the bug. I was also too young to drive - a car is essential! With surfing, I could just run to the beach with it under my arm.
It's a fun sport though - some very good windsurfers head to Gwithian when it's cross shore. Loops and all sorts!

What sort do you tend to do? Speed, slalom or wave? Daymer suits all three, Gwithian is best for wave and Marazion is ideal for speedy stuff.
Do shout if you plan to head down - for some local knowledge!

i,ve sailed Gwithian on a pretty big day, few years ago, I also used to sail Rhosneigr, and boy the swell used to get to the height of 2 story houses
funny as I have just bought a new (2nd hand) board on Staurday, as a slightly floatier wave board
one summer, it must be in the mid 90's we had so much wind it was amazing, spent pretty much every weekend driving to Daymer or N Wales, I remember August bank holiday we had a 970 low track through the UK all weekend, never used anything other than a 4.0 in three days - immense

Hodgy - we didn't see much of Dad when we first moved there! I did work experience at Lightwave (now gone) and knew a few quite well known windsurfers. Dad ran a company called Total Control that made kit too - but had a fall out with the other partner and it ended. A shame as they made really good kit.
Are Lodey still going? They were great sails back then.

quite a few mates bought Magic Touch boards from a guy called Niels Larson (he sails Gwithian) but not sure if he is still going
I,m sure my mate Alex who runs john bray still buys boards off the lightwave guy, Bill Atlee is it?

Matt, I'm the same, love building things up, just take my time more now for my "limpwrist" 
Flat pack wardrobes, beds, model cars... love the intricasy and the patience needed. Or my artwork which is more of a marathon than a sprint.

Just tried it out and the surf was CRANKING! Board is amazing - catches anything, accelerates down the line and snaps off the top very nicely. Amazing!
Then tried the new road bike - it's also amazing! Very twitchy and pretty full on compared to an MTB but SO fast!
Great day but now bloody knackered!

Like a child at Christmas........Your lifestyle is beginning to make me feel like a loser.
Quite infectious though, I ve just been out to my bike hanging up in the garage and span the front wheel as fast as I could, registered 36 MPH.

I cycled up to the off-licence tonight on my bicycle. To be honest I was knackered by the time the pressure-gauge on my bike pump had registered in the "ATB" zone.

I seem to be one of them fellas with all the right equipment....
But never uses it for what it was designed for.
The huge tool watches for flight/diving/sub zero capibilities/flying to the Moon/sending out distress signals if I crash my plane, yet sit in a safe only to be looked at and w"£$%d over every now and again.
The truck that is capable of climbing mountains and conquering impassable terrain, a truck you can sleep in and explore the world, yet does the nursey run.
The huge motorway cruiser that sits in the garage, never allowed out to stretch its legs, it has seven seats, yet there are only three of us.
The mountain bike with all the bells and whistles, with a down hill design in mind, yet hangs in the garage next to the wifes must have Scott MB the most expensive maiden in the world.
The SuperMoto that gets used for an hour on Sunday, if I have gained enough brownie points to merit it...note: SuperMoto used on the roads only.
The Nike 110's for sitting on the couch.
The subzero zillion tog ski jacket with polar bear fur filling, that gets used on the Blackpool run in November, never seen the piste.
And so it goes on.....
