Only the diabolical weather that forced both days to be cancelled.... hopefully it'll be a little different this year.

I'll be going just to have the experience of XH558 flying directly above me... should be awesome!

All those dates too late, I did my last display at Finningley in Sept 1981.

Whatever happened to the Barton air shows? I used to live in Birchwood, Warrington and the planes used to come out our way before going in for the display. The only time I ever saw a Vulcan fly was right over my house turning back towards Barton.

Yes? Well put it in your front room then

Tatjana van Vark ~ Navigation and Bombing System NBS
I used to go down the back on a long high level trip swapping seats with the Nav Radar who used to sit up top with the co pilot. He enjoyed it and I had fun playing with his H2S radar. It was a pretty good piece of kit for its age and it was surprising how accurate a set of bombs a good Nav Radar could drop. Mine was really good and on the Giant Voice bombing competition in USA he dropped the best four high level bombs of the whole competition. That got the Yanks well wound up!

That's if the USAF can actually find the right airfield to fly over!

Just to let you know it's ticket only this year, you can't turn up and pay on the gate as in previous years. You can still buytickets though.
Regarding the USAF, don't forget they're heavily commited to operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also none of the fighter demo teams are flying outside of the US this year, the F22 even cancelled Paris due to operational reasons.
The flying at RIAT is stil looking good, 2 x Grippens, Dutch F16, Typhoon, Raffale (which i've been told is very impressive), 3 x F18, and RAF and USAF C17 which are pretty rare at airshows. Also the 757 from New Zealand is flying and the usual displays teams.
Still a pretty good line up

Was going to leave getting a ticket till Tomorrow/Friday.

I'm hoping the Russian's might come to the RIAT sometime with the TU-160 Blackjack.

I'm going to Fairford on Saturday... well to "the field opposite"... right next to the fence that is used as a display-line. A little more dangerous, yes, but much more exciting and loud!

Anyone who would appreciate a much better view of the flying aircraft, with a much worse view of the static stuff - though with a much cheaper price ticket (£10 a head IIRC) and significantly easier parking / traffic.... let me know and I'll give you directions.
