Micheal Jackson Hysteria ....

Micheal Jackson Hysteria ....
OK, he was a big star .... good
He paid $millions to a family who claimed he had fiddled with their child .... not good
He was a freak show .... in the entertainment industry that's a good trait
Music was interesting .... good for those who liked it
He was locked in his own childhood .... sad for him
He is dead now, sad - mourn for a day if you must and watch his funeral on TV
But, please, can we stop the endless TV programs about him??
It's like Princess Diana all over again!
Why do some people 'need' someone else to make their own lives worth living?
Everytime I turn the bleeding TV on, it's there again and again ..... we live in a sad world.

I'm not sure what you think another post on SN will achieve about endless TV programs, i doubt anyone here has any control over that. Also, surely you're adding to the hysteria by creating yet another thread about MJ.
Hypocritical if anything.
How about, you accept its big news and will continue to be big news for a week or so.

To be fair, at least the vigil crew arnt wailing and knashing their teeth in a showey display of mass grief. They are singing his songs ( and even you admit they are good) and having a bit of a dance.
I know which way I'd prefer to be remembered.

On your last point:
I dont think thats the case at all, people just relate to music as it may reflect on a time in their life, whether that be through the words or just the fact a perticular song/album was around at that specific time. I always feel a bit sorry for those who have never felt like that about a musician/footballer/actor...etc as it makes me think they must have lived life wrapped in cotton wool.

Just don't turn the TV on.
At the end of the day he was a person that had an impact on many peoples lives because of what he did musically and people remember the songs/performances etc of times when something happened in their lives, don't bleat on about the coverage if you are not interested in watching it BBC3 shows a test card until 7pm watch that.
As for the millions of people who do want to see things like that remembering someone they like for his musical talent - as you should put aside a persons personal life - they show programs to help people deal with the trauma in their own way.
I am afraid you are again in the minority.

The paramedic said that when he arrived Michael was actually blowing bubbles.
But as we all know, he has been blowing bubbles since he bought him.

The people who are crying and wailing and in mourning ...... for someone they never knew, never met and didn't know them from Adam - weird behaviour IMO.
I enjoy music, songs transport me to a time, a smell, an emotion ..... if the artist died, as happens in real life now and again, then I will think for a while, reflect, and then move on - it would not consume my every waking moment.
How many great people died this week? By that I mean great fathers, grandads, grandmas, mums and sisters, brothers and sons? Plenty - say a prayer for them, they may have had nothing, but had everything.
The Celebrity Circus needs closing ........

Quote from BBS linked above:-
"I have always said that if Michael ever dies I have to die as well. Thanks to people around me I haven't brought myself to doing it. I want to continue Michael's legacy (people keep on telling me that I'm the next Michael Jackson)."
Holy Crap!!!
I thought there were some weirdos on SN, those who follow a single character non-stop, but even these pale into normality compared with these barm-pots!!
There are some freaks out there .... go carefully people!!

I did consider it, really I did ..... but I could send someone over the edge, easily.
There are nutcases on here who are suicidal when I post, imagine what I could do to that lot of freaks?
I couldn't ..................................... could I?

You're definately taking me nowhere Pete.
Have to say, I'm sick as **** of this coverage overload.
All day yesterday on the wireless, couple of recent songs the a Jacko one.
I DONT FLICKING CARE THAT HE'S DEAD!!!
Not a fan, some good songs, but for crying out loud it's far too much.

An ok pop star who's done nothing useful in the last half of his life except entertain us with how not to do plastic surgery (oh, and get a little toooo friendly with boys of a certain age).
I must admit I don't get it - I was unhappy when Senna died as I felt his life had been cut too short (not unhappy - not grieving, distraught, freaky, holding vigils or anything. Merely a bit sad. This fruit loop was well past his sell by date so nothing lost.
I'm also the person who didn't get Diana, however - an unfaithful ungrateful bint who meandered around looking doleful. We are a nation that loves a loser!
