Any more rumours or otherwise as my SE P1 is getting more and more problematic.
I do wish to stay with Vodafone, by the way.

Not heard anything. All iPhone users are currently dribbling over OS3, so dont expect a reply just yet lol.
Jailbreak would be the only way I would have thought.
Not sure how long the contract with O2/Apple is.

iPhone 3GS is released tomorrow and there has been no mention of a change in networks, so looks like it's O2 only by default. However, the hackers have been hard at it, and it is said they'll have an unlocker available shortly after the phone is released and this would allow you to change it to work on any network. However, when Apple makes an update to the iPhone software the unlock will probably break, thus you're a bit stuffed if you're not on O2.
The only way to avoid this would be to get a phone from Australia or NZ as they have completely unlocked phones from the factory, thus you could put in any SIM card and use any network, plus upgrade the software on it without any problems.
