Car Giant, any good?
Just wondered if anyone had bought a used car through Car Giant in London?
If so how were they to deal with? Any degree of flexibility in price etc. After sales experience?
Thanks in advance.

The price you see on the screen is the price they are selling for.
Very numb experience, bizarre the way you view the cars just taking the keys from the desk.
Cheap cars though, all sold without road tax.
Sheer size of the operation makes it a truely detatched supermarket experience.
Great range though.

Went with a friend several years ago.
Agree with the detached comment, found it quite unfriendly.
Most of the cars we looked at had flat batteries - Bloke walking around with a charger pack...

Everything done very formally, passed from one person to another for each thing, look at cars, thats 1 group of people, test drive, thats another group, value your PX< thats another group, discuss purchase and get figures, thats another, and finally payment is another.... Oh collection, thats another department and group of people.
But cant knock the prices. Dont expect much history with the cars either. Lots due services, or overdue.

We recently bought our Touran from there.
All I recommend is not going on a weekend, as it gets stupid busy and although they can do it, don't try and pick up the car the same day!
We waited and waited, only to find the the CV boot was split, so I couldn't pick up for another couple of days as they repaired that.
Screen price is cheap, factor in the £91 admin fee, and if there is no manufacturers warranty left, you may want to pay for an AA warranty package.
They don't take credit card either and there is a handling fee for large sums of cash, so bear that in mind.
You can get a Norwich Union drive away insurance for seven days. Call them prior to collecting the car, and they will send the documents direct to Car Giant, ready for when you pick up the car. This will mean you'll have the right paperwork to get the road tax that day.
The test drive is about a mile, so you will not be able go beyond 40mph!
Petrol stations are close by whichever way you leave, but it's easier to the find the fuel cap release at Car Giant with no pressure, compared to a busy petrol station forecourt!!

I bought an Escort from them a few years ago, no movement on price, hard sell on warranty and insurances like gap, wasn't allowed keys without registering, test drive was being driven by the bloke about half a mile round trip.
So not a great experience but price was right so I bought anyway. They work on shifting volumes at cheaper prices so if you don't buy, they know another will be along in a minute which leads to a not giving a monkeys attitude.
