Don't think he'll go before the start of next week as the local election results don't come in before Friday/Saturday and the Euros until Sunday. Unless the mutiny letter doing the rounds of Labours backbenches has an effect. And rumours of two more ministers to go later - Caroline Flint is one name (European minister no less - whatever the hell that is!?). But the sooner the better.

The History books will show us that Brown saved the UK Economy and by next Spring led the world out of dire straights.
If I were he, I wouldn't go until next June when the world will hail him as a great statesman ..... why go now, when the public don't quite understand yet?

Where is the 'within 7 days' option. That seems to be the most likely scenario.
LOL @ pslewis. The last of the unquestioning faithful
The game is up. You know it, I know it ,and now the whole country knows it. The Nu Labour project is well and truly over - and it was a complete disaster.

I actually reckoned 'within 3 months' from the options. In truth it would be better if he stayed until a general election because then Labour would be totally annihilated and we wouldn't see them again for many generations, if ever, hopefully. Labour in power ALWAYS ends in tears, for the electorate rather than them!

Not sure he will go without a fight or willingly - He was kept waiting long enough by Blair so wants to make the most of it.
it will take a vote of no confidence in Brown to get him out, so will be interesting to see what happens now an email has gone around the NL MP's asking for them to support Brown going...
I think the local elections will be the undoing of Brown - massive NL losses will get the party thinking about a new leader - except for SSU/PSL who belives brown really has saved the world

If Labour get no votes in these elections, the presure will be on him to stand down. I voted within 3 months.
What goes around comes around.
He was the one who started the Ball rolling to get Blair out so he could become PM.
Serves the one eyed Scottish w@anker right.

Furthermore, he'll be banging on, to anyone who'll listen, for the next 20 years about how he saved the world, er the UK.
Brown is the biggest oxygen thief in history.

The question is who would want to be take over as leader of the labour party at the moment?
It would be a virtual miracle to turn around the electorate to win the election by next year so whoever stepped into the job would be sacked in less than a year ...
