Performing minor surgery..............on YOURSELF!
I've just done it: about two years ago I got a plant spine of some sort lodged in my left forfinger tip, just on the pad. I thought I'd got rid, but I hadn't, and the skin healed over it.
Every now and then, pressing, or squeezing with that finger gave me sharp pricking pains.
Today, having nothing better to do, I've got rid
I sat with my finger tip on a freeezer pack for half an hour until it went numb, then, with my finger tip on a clean paper towel, quickly cut an "X" over the spot that hurt with a new scalpel blade, (I use scalpels in my model building)
I could SEE the end of the spine, but it was way deep, so I had to dig further, and eventually freed the end enough to grab it with a pair of tweezers and pull it free. It was around 6mm long.
The wound bled quite a bit, but I first poured aftershave into it, then kept pressure on it until it stopped, finally covering with a plaster.
I've taken my own stitches out before, (even once after surgery for a vasectomy, and let me tell you, boys, it takes guts to close the scissors blades on a stitch in THAT vicinity), but not anything like this.
Anyone else done surgery on themselves?

"But I'm your friend Johnny! I was there with you knee-deep in all that blood and guts. I covered your *** more than once. Seems like baling you out of trouble's got to be a life-time achievement for me. "

Be careful, mate of mine "stubbed" his big toe last year in the garden, turned out to be an insect type bite, he thought nothing of it apart from putting TCP onto the area, bad move, he ended up in hospital for 6 weeks caught mrsa and had to have the toe amputated.
ps would suggest you see your quack, just in case.

Yep, snip, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, pull, wiggle, pull, wiggle wiggle pull and it's done. Surprising how much nail comes out from the side and underneath, there's probably as much as there was on top.
But for respect, the scalpel and brut on top has to take it, nails fall off all the time but digging around with a blade and then making sure it smelled nice?

So I don't come round today, and you perform surgery on yourself
Jeff, you are not THAT bored, please tell me
Closest I get to surgery is when I take out my Prince Albert piercing once in a while to let the hole close a bit so it's a little tighter Thats done with a pair of surgical pliers. I'll post a pic in the adult forum one day, maybe, possibly

Christ mate you should have told me I was boring you to the point of self-mutilation....
My two penneth, pain in foot, ignored....
(P.S. ((for you young'uns)) in the old days use ordinary folk burned coal to keep warm ).
A fortnight later it seemed at bit tender/smelly, so got a mirror and a scalpel (parents were medics) and dug a piece of razor sharp coal out of said foot.
Leaving a gooey smelly hole about 1 cm deep ! Antiseptic and a gauze pad, 'twere fine.
Also had a habit of smashing my little toes as a teenager, , both a bit of a mess despite my best attempts to align the broken bones....
LOL
dunx
P.S. I also do dentistry, but that's a story for another time....

I've done that too.
Had some codeine pills left over from a knee injury, so I necked 150mg (the usual self-administered dose is 60mg max), and gave it 20 mins to 'kick-in' before I started.
Even through a mild opiate haze, it still hurt like hell - but after nearly a week of nagging toothache, the relief was well worth the minute of agony.

Dug out a few nasty splinters but the best one was when I had a wart - I HATE warts and keep slicing it to bits, digging really deep to try and remove it with blood all over the place - but to no avail.
So got drunk (very drunk) one night and stubbed a couple of lit matches out on it - worked a treat!
