You can do that some parts of Australia, called a roadie.

My uncle and I went to the drive through offie and he says "you want a roadie?", I'm thinking some kind of bar snack so "yep, sure" and he gets a couple of cold cans and cracks them

Supped them on the way home but wasn't really comfortable with the whole thing.
Happened on a minibus on the way back from a balloon trip as well and the bloke driving got stuck into the champagne meant for the punters.

I don't think it is against the law to drink a beer and drive, apart from the without due care type bollox.
As long as you are below .08, surely it would be no different from drinking a cup of tea.
Anyone on here know better?

Ordering "road beers" for travel between US bars, very common.
Don't think it's legal though.

yeah, don't think theres any law against as long as your under the limit, not clever tho

A mate of mine on the trucks use to use a Grolsh bottle to put his pop in (orange, blackcurrent etc) used to get some funny looks from passing drivers, again, not very clever

I had a cup of tea once in one of those thermal cups with lid etc etc and put

it down in the cup holder, no danger what so ever.

But i was in a lorry and got caught taking a sip by a copper and got a £30 on the spot fine

In many States in the US is it illegal to have an open container of alcohol anywhere in your car - even your trunk.

There is no law apart from the aforementioned driving without due care and attention. You are just screaming 'please pull me over and do a cavity search' to any random Policeman though.
