What Coffin
We are currently having an argument about funeral arrangements and particularly the different types of coffin. Apparently it is dearer to have a recyclable coffin rather than a solid oak one.
I can just imagine the guys in the funeral parlour whipping you out of the coffin before they fill in the hole, and then sell it on to the next poor sod who dies
But more importantly, what would you want to be buried in - for me a carbon fibre coffin

I want to be burnt. So they can please themselves
It may take a week or so to put our the flames due to the alcohol content in my body, but hey ho. I won't mind

I dont care about an eco friendly one, It can be made out of petrol, Sainsburys bags and those things that hold 6 packs together.
I suppose it would be a cheap and easy option. I am sure the people I leave behind can have more fun with the money they save on a coffin then I can have in a nice shiny rose wood one.
If I had the cash I would get frozen, and come back and take over the world!!!

After my life so far, I don't think I'd want to come back.

Unless things have changed dramatically since i was last involved so to speak.
Coffins came in many guises/ materials.
The cheapest was veneered chipboard, it then moved through various solid types. Elm, Oak etc..
Then there were a few "eco" varieties Cardboard, & fibreglass based. (neither of which were great sellers at the time)
Then came the more elaborate coffins, with decorative mouldings / panels, - same materials, just outward appearance was different.
Then was the caskets, these were generally solid woods, again in differing finishes / appearances.
Lastly we used to get the odd American casket from overseas, whilst highly decorative & shiny, they were unable to be used due to UK burial laws.
(there made from Ally, so not biodegradable)
I saw the other day, that one of the larger funeral places is now doing wicker coffins, ( different i suppose)
Cost wise... thats another ball game altogether

I'd quite like to have what they do in some parts of S.America, just chuck your body out on a rock and let the Condors eat it
Except in the UK it would be crows and magpies pecking out my eyeballs, maybe a bird of prey or two if I were really lucky

Get the missus to dig a hole in the back garden and lob me in it. Perfectly legal, don;t even need a coffin. You just have to mark the spot on the deeds of your house

You have to meet certain requirements before you can just lob them in lol
(water table & available depth, are two i recall)
The big kicker is it will seriously affect the resale value of your house lol

The more I think about it the more I might try for a stripper body style coffin, about 20% bigger than me so I can fit inside.
On my back inside a stripper for the rest of time!!!!!

About what Mart said about Wicker coffins - the place I have my plot chosen and paid for is a woodland burial place. They offer all nature of biodegradable coffins including wicker, but I'm going in cardboard.
