May be worth a call to Virgin Media...
I have a Virgin Media internet connection which for a 2mb speed was costing me £18 a month. I had no grudges paying this as BT's service previously was abysmal to compliment it
Anywho, was online just now looking through my E-bill and saw that the price was going upto £20 a month. Looked to see what was available to me and then saw that they are phasing out 2mb and eventually upgrading everyone to 10mb connections after the price increase had gone in. The usual price for 10mb was £25 I think, but it's being reduced probably so the folk like me happy on a medium speed didn't bugger off.
So a quick phone call to a Scottich customer services guy and I now have 10mb interweb for the price that the 2mb (soon to be obsolete) was gonna cost. No fanny discounts etc, it will be this price until they raise general prices so no shocks in the post.
Thought it's worth a mention for the others on a slower 'net connection, as otherwise this upgrade could've taken months for filtering through the system automatically.
Erm, dip yer bread?

Ive completely rang as much discount as possible out of them now, after a few phone calls and a few limited offers I now have a permanent loyalty discount which knocks nearly half off my bill

Phone them in the morning about 10am .. the Scots are likely beCogent one of the Outsourced companies.. there is a 2Mb service for £18 its called S - small, but its not advertised.
0845 454 1111 or 0845 454 0000 go to the same call tree as 150 or 151 there is no direct line to a UK call centre, just dont call after 10pm as you'll get India.. not that theres anything wrong with India, but you know

Still, better than waigin for the automatic upgrade I guess. Also, Pimmo, they're currenly charging £20 for the M package you speak of as I saw my bill - the inspiration for me calling them to start with.

I recieved a specifc flyer the Mrs showed me earlier saying that the M package (2mb) was being discontinued. She showed me about an hour ago after I'd had a moan at Virgin Media

Says large is 10mb, so when on 2mb I assumed the level below must be Medium. What speed was the Small connection mate?

2Mb .. people who dont want to move to 10Mb with the extra cost have been given the option of staying on this package .. not sure for how long or any other details other than its there and people can be put on it if needed..
I'd go with 10 myself but I just wanted to keep you informed
