Default Ebay - damaged goods

Guys i bought a new rear light for my car that was damaged when it came to me but i do not believe it was damaged in transit. 2 reasons being that:

1. The indicator lense was broken off and there was no sign of the broken item in the box
2. One of the bolts used to secure the rearlight onto the car was pulled off with what looks like a good bit of force yet no bolt is in the packaging either.

This item has been described as in "perfect" condition and the seller has asked me to return it to him even though I have sent him pictures of the damage.

Now my issue is why should i pay to have it delivered back to him when he has clearly tried to rip me off? How would you go about this?

Also why would he want it back other than to sell it on again? Apparently it has been security marked so he knows it belongs to him which i personally think it completely turd

Thought as much, Ebay is becoming a useless and generally not that cheap place to shop anymore.

Unfortunately moral standards have drop through the floor and are heading towards the core of the earth. It seems the only safe way to buy second hand stuff these days is to pick the stuff up personally and pay cash, having carefully checked beforehand.

Touch wood, I've only ever been screwed once and that was when I bought a momo race gearknob that was described as perfect - the leather was worn smooth and the metal was so tarnished it was black, but ebay upheld that the sellers description of perfect was accurate

I had similar once and opened paypal dispute and they made me return goods at my own cost. So I lost nearly £10 to return a broken item!

You have to be careful to return using trackable so they dont say they never had it back too.

I wont shop on ebay anymore.

Hope you get it sorted.

cheers guys, its not the money aspect of it that annoys me as its only a few quid. Its more the principle of someone being a dodgy.

Another daft thing was that he asked if i had signed for it when i picked it up from the post office yet he didn't send it recorded delivery thus i never had to sign a thing. whats that all about?

The whole thing about the item being tagged just really bugs me as i know its a blatent lie as i've ran over it with a dark light

Instead of sending it back then, be just as dodgy as him and put in a dispute for it never arriving. Maybe it'll teach him not to send shoddy goods and I think paypal/ebay will settle on your side.

If he didn't send it recorded then tell Paypal you never received it. You'll get your money back and he won't be able to sell it on to any other unsuspecting ebayer. I don't usually think 2 wrongs make a right but this guy deserves it, IMHO.

Is the item totally useless James, cant you separate the coloured plastic part from the unit and use it to repair the broken part of your light cluster.

I would cut my losses - dont waste time, energy and cash on chasing the seller, the frustraion will drive you nuts and may cost you more money.

I bought another rear light off a Alfa Specialist so its fitted and all as I needed the car spick and span for MOT soon.

Being an Alfa though the impact of the hit seems to have damaged something else as the rear side light keeps failing now ffs

Anyone wanna 147?

Swap you for a Punto! What am I saying... you'd have to bung me £500 too just to sweeten the deal
