Are your nippers banned from running?
The school my four year old attends has banned running in the playground, she told me that today she was sent inside for skipping fast...
Did running ever kill anyone in our day at school?
Sigh, what is happening to the world.

Its not all bad. My daughter is in her 1st year at school, during P.E. there is a competition to see who can climb the rope to the ceiling of the hall. Oh and running is deffo allowed. And competitive sports etc. Yes its a state school!

Good, assuming they do not all get injured or paralysed (god forbid) doing these normal activities they will be the ones more able to compete in the real world, the other children will not know what has hit them is wrapped in cotton wool at school - school should be about experiential learning, not just reading about riding bikes or competing in races!

All OK at at mine! Run as fast as they like. They do call if any of the kids have fallen and hit their heads (probably mandated) but all I ask is 'is he OK'. Usually they say 'oh yes, absolutely fine'. So he gets picked up after school .... to walk the mile or so home ....

^^ Better if they just stay at home watching the telly, that way they come to no harm Unless of course the gamma rays emitted by the TV start to harm them at which point it must be better to lock them in a darkened room, for their own safety of course ...

Don't you wonder what is going on? I'm sure my mum had an idea about diet being as she's a PE teacher but growing up I just ate pretty much what I liked. If I think about it I'm sure it was quite high calorie. I used to eat sweets all the time as well. I was stick thin due to playing football every break at school and playing out until dark when I got home.
We're going to have a generation of Americans at this rate....

My kids have to take water to drink too, but I don't have any problems with this as they see it as a rule to be obeyed. What's more they run their asses off at school and come home with so many bruises from playground warfare I actually question whether or not school suddenly becomes bootcamp when the parents have disappeared. If any of the children have an accident/injury at school a little note is sent to the parents, but there's none of this namby pamby cotton wool malarky!

This children at my lads school (7 y.o.) all went outside for a supervised snow ball fight - I think this was actually during lesson time as we were told the kids were totally distracted by the snow and after - satisfied and worn out - and crucially ready to learn again.
Oh and they are not banned from running outside

You do get some strange attitudes from some heads though. Our local one has insisted that the council provides a full size coach to take the children to the local leisure centre for Gym classes over a distance that they could walk safe from traffic in less than 15 minutes!
