Default A question for men. And maybe women...

Never mind bent MPs, the economy, artic ice blah blah blah

The big issuse on my mind is this:

What sort of hat is it acceptable for a 35 year old bloke to wear?

We get quite a bit of weather up here, and hats / cape can be pretty useful in sun or rain, however after 30 years, I'm thinking baseball caps are pushing the envelope of decency a little.

So what are the alternatives?

Modern day flat-cap style is all ok.

Also, tbh, baseball caps will be wearable to all ages....

Well, I'm older than you, and in summer in France, get headaches squinting. I wear sunglasses, but when the sun is high, it can still make me squint ABOVE the lenses.
I wear an Adidas baseball cap with cool panels...........mainly mesh. TBH, don't care if I look daft or not

Beanie for me. Covers the bald bits too.

I would only wear a baseball cap to protect my eyes on a boat very, very far out at sea.

Those Russian type hats are good, especially in poor weather, you can wear those anywhere. The ones without ear flaps work well.

Beanie hats are fine, but never ever wear one indoors, you will just look a tw*t like David Beckham, especially if you combine it with a trendy scarf and a casually slung man-bag!

Accelerating towards 40 and I do a baseball cap, need the peak for the sun and to keep rain off my goggles.
M&S do decent plain versions which'll save any worries about wearing the wrong badge

A few good ones here for you.....

Not the sort of Hat and Cape you are looking for, but team those two up together and you could make yourself one heck of a superhero!

Dude,

Its more to do with how you carry yourself, your physique and your outlook on life than your age.

Paul Tuttle snr must be over 50, but suits a backward baseball cap and shades, whereas Dizzy rascal looks like a t1t.

I've seen young guys looking perfectly ok in clothing more acceptable to older men, and older guys looking perfectly ok in clothing generally favoured by those very much younger.

We've all seen the reverse, I'm sure

Ask your opposite sex (or gay) friends. They are best placed to tell what works and what doesn't. After all, what does it matter if the blokes think you look a bit of a t1t, if the girls think otherwise

I've a habit of wearing baseball caps when it's scorchio, to protect the noggin, but I've started to resist after being mistaken for a fat Yank tourist a couple of times on my hols in France, and being given grief by irate Frenchman. They get surprised when I answer them back in pretty reasonable French, and upset when I accuse them of being Belgian

"Dude, that's awesome!"

Do they make a baseball cap with a front and rear peak?

Mind you, if they did, people would wear them sideways just to be different!
