Default Recommend me a DAB radio

Just to sit in the corner of the flat so I don't have to keep switching the tv or computer on to have some background noise.

Looking for something thats reasonably cheap, has DAB, maybe cd player and maybe a ipod dock.

Have been looking at this for the time being.

Well that one's quite a big system.

I have a PURE one mini, at work. Can plug the Ipod in no problems.

Got a Pure One - small and cheapish, works very well but not very loud, and a Pure Evoke 2 which is brilliant but a bit bulky. I think Pure make the best DAB stand alone radios.

Also got a Teac DAB system but that's not really very helpful!

Nathan.

I'm guessing after looking at the Pure one, a portable radio.

Pure one is deffinatly a contender.

Out of interest, how long has DAB been available in the UK? At least 5 years? There's radio ads hereabouts that proclaim that 'Digital Radio is coming soon'. Not that I'm saying my part of the world is stuck in the stone ages, oh no! Best not mention daylight saving, late night/sunday shopping either

I went for a Pure One elite in the end.

Sounds very nice too and takes the ipod too Pity DAB is so pants in my area, and you wouldn't believe I live 1000m from a digi tower!!!

Right, old thread I know but i'm about to step into the digital age.

Don't understand it though. Is it nothing to do with FM,MW,LW??

I'm really only worried about small portable radio that I can get the cricket on which was always LW.

Thinking about small Pure one thing

*edit* must have external speaker....can't be doing with headphones!

I realise theres more channels, but actually what its really bout is freeing up the airwaves

Nothing to do with giving us better reception - which is how its been sold us

There are at least a few more years left on analogue - Gov: DAB must battle on, despite being old and rubbish, by which time people will have sussed out that the poor coverage, battery eating, ugly designed, out-of-date technology, BBC promoted (and paid for by you), low bit-rate retro boxes are a big mistake!!!

After doing a bit more research there is talk about FM being around until 2020.

What has really annoyed me is I saw one of the Pure radios (portable)for about £40 and you don't get a battery...you buy a rechargeable one seperately for £25!!!

Stuff that.Going to get a normal small Roberts portable with FM,LW and MW

THE only reason would get one is because some ****** is using the airwaves here , particularly rad 2 airwaves fro their own ends , police taxi or else

I listen online if i had it in the basement

I bought an ASDA own brand DAB for work, about 3 years ago - cost about £25.

It's still going strong despite being covered in dust and paint, has a snapped aerial that's held together with insulation tape, has been dropped, stood on and got wet.
