Cool £5000 towards your next electric car

As reported by the BBC last week - BBC NEWS | Business | Plan to boost electric car sales

The government will be offering a £5000 subsidy for those people buying electric cars. I know we probably covered this in another thread, but...

That's one hell of a scalextric set I'm going to buy myself

Thumbs up

Tamiya 1/10 Nissan GT-R - 58411 - £116.99

+ £ 100.00 for the radio gear and spare batts

That leaves me with £ 4778.00 (or so) to spend towards a gas-guzzling, planet killing rice rocket!

The article also states "up to" £5K, so you'll get £1 off the £8K model and £5K off the £80K model....

£5K off a Tesla doesn't sound that enticing though

Plus how much does it cost to fit 3phase in a house with a single phase residential supply so I can charge the thing at a decent rate toallow it to be usuable (presumably having to dig up the drive to do so).

Come to think of it how much will it cost to charge it using a high current 3 phase connection

Sheer genius except 75% of Britains electricity is generated by fossil fuels:lol1 Throw in the fact that the national grid is already at full capacity, and would not be able to cope. and you have another useless gimmick by these bunch of tossers.

No - but if you make one, you can charge £5k more for it than you might otherwise. Not that any of the manufacturers would ever...

...oh.

It's ok because the govt have pledged 2 million squid to fit power points in major cities, that should get about three in central London then!

You mean like the £2K scrappage program for old cars when you buy a brand new one...
