The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me...
Just watching the one show and they have a "consumer" story on it.
Couple have a stash of timeshare points.
They get cold called by some one claiming to be a broker type and the have a buyer for the points.
The buyer is offering way over market value.
To move the deal along, the couple need to advance the broker one THOUSAND pounds. They do this.
The buyer backs out, the broker tells them they need to fly to spain to seal the deal with a new buyer. They do this.
This one collapses and they're told the points are worthless.
So... 1300 quid out of pocket because of their own stupidity - no problem with that.
But why write to the BBC to alert the nation to this scam (and broadcast their stupidity to the nation at the same time)???

LOL.
I know of someone who may have lost £10K - I say may have because I haven't seen them since.
They apparently bought some shares yonks ago and forgot about them. Out of the blue they get a phone call from some yank telling him he's got $$$$$$$$ of shares in some company that makes skate board products (I kid ye not!) however, he can't get share price and he can't get the money out of the US without paying some charge to the feds.
The charge is £10K and on that promise he will receive hundred of thousands of dollars.
We said are you sure, yes he said and wouldn't hear anything against it so encashed the £10K for him and off he went. Haven't seen him since.
Some people (even particularly intelligent ones) seem to be consumed by the promise of a fortune.

Some people, somehow, seem to think that a complete stranger will sell them something which will make them rich beyond their wildest dreams ........ I am puzzled as to why they think they have been selected for this amazing gift!?
I once saw an old Major on the TV, ex-Army, now about 60 years old and rather wealthy - he was promised that this 'very decent chappie' would turn his £100,000 life savings into £200,000 within 12 months. He said that it was such a good return he agreed to do it!!!
Never once asking why this 'Nice Chappie' didn't borrow £100k at an interest rate of 20% to return himself 100% over 12 months ..... instead of offering it to a stranger!
A fool and their money are soon parted - so true.

Look at how many 'Uprated' Fuel Pumps have been sold too!! FFS the Subaru Standard Pump returns litres to the fuel tank every minute ............. an Uprated Pump simply pumps MORE back into the tank!

And then there is that member who tells everyone that a MAF Sensor should be treated as a service item and changed every 6 month service! I'm sure they were the MD of the Importing Company who happened to have a few thousand MAF's to dispose of
