Red Mercury! Is that mercuric oxide or something like that then?

Some one must have started a rumour, some bloke with a pile of old sewing machines.

"In the city of Madina, people were holding mobile phones up to the machines, due to the belief that they could be used to detect the presence of red mercury."

I'm due a mobile phone upgrade soon: anyone know which Nokia or Sony Ericsson has this feature?

British Intelligence should start a hoax like this:

Like saying the latest Jaguars and Land Rovers contain a uranium alloy in its engine block which can be easily extracted, purifed and used to create a considerably sized nuclear or dirty bomb.

The effects will be two fold; our car industry (whats left of it) will gain money from increased sales from Al-Qaeda. And anyone looking at buying a new Jag or LR will be investigated for terrorist links.

Everyone's a winner

Mine has the same barcode reader feature, when you can actually get it to work all it does is translate the barcode into the string of numbers that is already printed underneath it, not much use at all really but was fun for the first 5 mins at least
