Good program.
Bad reliability of Harrier though!
Pri and sec a/c went Tech with broken nav systems but the third backup was ok....then the crew chief said "Not a clue" to what would happen if that didn't work either
Then the sqn ldrs a/c went tech on the Lusty and he was whinging the spare had the weak old engine in it so it had to be pushed right to the back of the deck for a longer runup
Oops.
Firing rockets and dropping paveways looked fun though

In actual fact, fighter piloting becomes surprisingly boring after a while. You only do short trips because they dont carry much fuel, rush around the sky pretending to shoot each other down, and go back home to land, get some more fuel and do it all over again.
Low level ground attack is much more fun and has enormous variety of things to do. Not only that, in the bigger bombers you get to go round the world from time to time. When you are up at height, mach 1+ looks much the same as any other slower speed anyway.

The program title was a bit misleading, the Harriers were all doing low level ground attack on the program, training at Speadadam and for real in Afghanistan Don't think they carried any air-air weapons at all for those missions as they didn't need them...
