Default Getting to Gatwick from East London - Early Morning

I only use the tube/train to get to work so never really driven in London during the week. So was wondering what traffic was like at around 6.00 - 6.30am at either Blackwall Tunnel or the Dartford Crossing. Will then get onto the M25 to the airport.

Any help appreciated.

Its usually fine on both at that time. Accident pending.
If you are going south on either its quieter than north.

Where you heading from ?

Be careful. The blackwall tunnel is closed every weekend until about midday.

It's during the week, so it should be open at that time. Is the M25 normally good?

At that time yes its usually ok mate.
Like I say though, where are you coming from. At that time of day it might make more sense to go straight through the middle.

Reckon that M25 is your best bet. If you go through, presumeably via Blackwall tunnel, its a messy journey south of the river unless you stay on the A2 down to the M25 junction. Whichever route, you're relying on there being no unforeseen traffic holdups

Really depends where the journey is starting from really. BWT is not too bad off peak, but thats only really any use if you are coming from NE / E London

Only problem with the 25 is IF there is an issue, you have to have pretty good knowledge to navigate your way around it (or sat nav lol) as it takes you miles away.
There is of course the point that if you are coming from anywhere more clockwise than say the A10 you might as well go anti and avoid the crossings all together.

Blackwell Tunnel can be a complete mess -- I've been stuck there for an hour at 7am before. Dartford tunnel and M25 is (generally!) clearer.

Dartford tunnel before 0645 is normally ok. after this time expect up to 20min wait to get over the bridge, but beware the bit after junction 4 ( m26) junction can get a bit messy as well, best to plan to cross bridge around 6 ish and you will have a clear run
