Default Cable Wakeboarding.....any good?

I'm after a new hobby i can play with once a week or so.....i used to powerkite (buggy, land board) but the field i use has just banned it.

I'm doing a bit of work at the moment near Swindon and they have a cable wake board park.....looks like fun and something i could just do for an hour or two over luch.

but...is it any good? once you stay up is it a bit boring?

i'm 18/19st and 6ft6.....on the phone they said that was no issue but i see a few centres have a 19st limit so it must have some effect....will i just sink!!!

oh, and i'm 35.......will i be surounded by 12 year old skater dudes laughing at me?

No... You'll be surrounded by 18 year old skater babes wearing bugger all, only too willing to help a REAL man out of his wetsuit!
It could get boring after a while, but there's a whole load of tricks to master first. Give it a go. It's a lot cheaper than using a boat.

Done a fair bit behind boats but not on a cable. A cable gives you plenty of lift but there is no wake - ramps and the like are what you usually air off.

Great fun but your arms will die horribly for a the first few sessions!

Nearly warm enough to get out on the wakeboard on our little boat - small wake but big enough for a bit of air. Proper wakeboard boats are very pricey and drink gallons every minute!

Cable parks are awesome, Loads of stuff to do, You wont sink, You should be up and comfortable within a few runs and after that its all go.
Most cable parks have rails, ramps etc and you will be surprised about the people that use them.
At my local its mostly an over 25 crowd, We are just a bit to far from the coast to surf every weekend and for whatever reasons we cant skateboard anymore.

Im 31, 6'2" and 14 stone and I practically glide (on my face a lot of the time) across
the water.
Buy a learner package, it will be about 5 tows, equipment hire and instruction and it will be money well spent.
And as stated, you arms will KILL!!!
