Default Fecking Paypal

Sold a phone on ebay and the buyer paid with Paypal,as it was over £100 the money doesnt get released until 21 days after the sale or when the buyer leaves positive feedback. So I sent the item Special Delivery and he recieved it next day,I then sent him a message asking him if he was happy with the item and if so would he leave positive feedback to release the funds.I heard nothing for a week now I have received an email from Paypal telling me he's trying to get the money back through Chargeback and I have to provide all emails, proof of posting, etc to them.
This is the first I was aware a buyer could do this, phone was as new to.So now I have to wait afurther 75-100 days until Paypal investigate with no guarantee I will get my money.

What can I do,anyone else have this happen to them?

Thieving bastids. They did me a couple of years ago on a camcorder. The buyer left positive feedback, yet they still gave the **** his money back.
He even had the cheek to email me thanking me for the free camcorder.

Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to buy or sell without going through paypal on ebay these days

Simply vote with your fingers and don't use them.

They are terrible in every area and there are loads of horror stories about them.

Phone your service provider and say the phone had been lost - get them to block it. Then send an email to the buyer telling them what you've done and that it won't be 'found' and unblocked until you have your money.

Good luck.

I had this not so long ago with a guy from Spain , I sent him a rear fitting kit after he paid through paypal , only to claim it back , I sent the parcel number to paypal as I sent it registered through royal mail and they accepted that under the sellers protection and they released the funds to me straight away , send them the special delivery slip details and they can check themselves that the item got to him
Good luck
Ian

Don't panic too soon - so long as you have proof it was delivered (ie signed for) then you will (99% sure) get your money.

Paypal only protect the buyer if goods are not received, so even if he says it was cr@p / broken etc he has no protection (as I found out!!!)

Good luck.

Special Delivery should ensure you will not lose the money.

Its strange reading all these horror stories about Paypal, Im a eBay Powerseller, and when people pay me with Paypal on item of any amount I receive the money in my PP account straight away ready to be withdrawn, Ive never had to wait until positive FB has been received. If I did have to wait each time I would not use Paypal at all.

9 years using Paypal & eBay, 4,000+ deals, never had a problem of any significance. Its not all con-artists and scammers using eBay & Paypal.

Movi-star,paypal hold the money on items over a certain value now until the buyer leaves positive feedback or 21 days from payment aslong as no dispute has been lodged.the only way now that money clears straight away is
1.100 or more positive feedback
2.You have been a paypal user for so long
Ive been using it since 2004(i think) with no negitive feedback but only 88 positive feedback.

FARK! Now that does take the pi55.

As mentioned though, if you have proof (special delivery - recorded is not proof apparently as I found out) then you should get your money.

I posted an item recorded delivery. The guy bought one cheaper then refused to sign for it. He told paypal I had not sent it to him. I faxed the recorded delivery sheet to paypal but there was no record of it being signed for. Paypal gave him the money back, froze my account and until it was paid back to him and then a couple of weeks later I got the item back "signature refused"

I also sold a RC car. Spoke on the phone to buyer explained condition (good but hard use) and he accepted. Car turned up and he not happy with condition. I said he was advised of the condition but he went to dispute. He escalated to claim and it was rejected almost immediately because PP can't comment on condition.

I bought £300 of Transformers and paid with paypal. Seller went quiet and this was when you could contact other bidders so I did and they told me the seller had offered the lot to them at their highest bid - cheeky ******! I said you may as well send them as I will get my money back and I entered the dispute with PP. He did send them in the end but did not use recorded/special del so no proof. I could have escalated that to a claim and got my £300 and the transformers. However I'm too honest

How long have they done the 100 feedback thing for ? , I have only sold stuff on there for a couple of years and only have 200 feedbacks , and have never had any problems waiting for money to clear unless its an E cheque ??

Set up 12 different auctions for 1 pence pieces with free delivery and i'll buy them off you to get you up to 100 feedbacks

Back in early 2000, the only electronic payment method on eBay was something called Billpoint, you needed an American bank account to open one. It was a real novelty to pay for something on eBay using electronic transfers back then and very rare in the UK. Paypal became available late 2000 and even then for about 2 years not many people used it, my old records shows most payments where made with cheques or cash (much more emphasis on trust back then).

Once eBay bought Paypal that was it, Billpoint was banned from eBay. There are other alternatives, Nochex was one and Google do some sort of electronic payment thing.

I still say eBay is fantastic, nothing else for me can generate revenue like it, I could never reach prices I get if I had a basic online shop, and for this I dont mind so much paying the eBay FVF and Paypal fees.

I've mentioned this loads of times, but I'll do so once more;
  • I sold a BMW nav screen on ebay, paid by PayPal.
  • Buyer left positive feedback a few days later
  • Buyer emailed me to tell me it was fitted and working A1, really pleased.

Two weeks later, PayPal dispute- item arrived broken.
I sent all the emails etc to PP, and pointed them to the positive feedback etc.
  • Received an email from PP saying thanks for agreeing to accept return- which I didn't!
  • Nav Screen returns with a different serial number I had, or so I thought, covered myself by taking a photo of the serial and using it on the auction photos.
  • I sent this evidence to PayPal - and they refunded his money, debiting my account.

Don't rely on them to do the honest thing as they probably won't. I'm still waiting for a refund for a pair of shoes when the seller sent the wrong size, so i returned them at their request. The dispute was opened in february!

I think some of these newers rules affect newer or low use paypalers.
My son has has his account messed about with by paypal a few times, one was actually for an phone aswell.
Because his account was dormant for a while he had to go through a rigerous security procedure which took approx 10 days I think.
They are a law unto themselves.
Also recently the same as RRH,he sold some cosmetic products for his girlfriend,(expensive stuff)one buyer out of 10 said that the item was open when she received it and eventually Paypal refunded her...

Well had an email from Paypal today confirming they were refunding the guy his money, although I supplied them with all details they asked for, proof of posting/delivery,buyers details, etc.
I asked the adviser what steps to take next, contact the buyer and ask them to send you another payment was the reply!!!
Anyone know what I can do next?

Never use them again?

Not the answer you're after, but you're yet another victim to add to the list.

The buyer was in contact today and says he doesnt understand what has happened,so I told him to send his payment again by way of Postal Order
