Default Sky box problem

As above my none sky plus box appears to have packed in. I got a message saying no satellite signal, then after a while it just went off onto standby. Fortunately i had an old sky-box in the shed that the previous owners of the house had left and all is working now. The broken box is an Amstrad, and is about 2 years old, is there any way i can fix it or is it fubared?

Sounds similar to what happened to my Sky+ box a few weeks ago - although I was still able to access the menus. I went through the procedure on the sky website at Sky.com - Sky Help Centre>Product Help - from "Disconnect the dish input feeds" downwards - which seemed to do the trick.

Mine does this from time to time - just unplug from mains for 2 mins, plug back in and it starts up in a couple more minutes

I did unplug it when i rang Sky(in India) and went through a procedure including turning it off at the mains, but it didn't make any difference.

It's an Amstrad - your missing the second step after unplugging it....

.. launch it straight in the bin

Well so far so good with the Grundig, out of the shed. I spoke to my parents and they also have an old box I can have if this one packs in too. And before anyone calls me a tight **** I would have upgraded, but I don't intend to stay in the house for much longer so don't want another contract

Our Sky box did exactly the same, 3 phone calls to Sky running through every proceedure, finally an engineer was called out, replaced the LNB, then finally admitted the box must be faulty. Replaced and it's been fine since (Thompson )

My Samsung Sky HD does it too, it's only 4 months old. Keep getting the no signal message on turn on, have to unplug it bla bla, it's very annoying!

My Grundig Sky box did the same and I found that to unplug it and reconnect within a few seconds used to sort it out. Hope the new box does not go the same way.
